Proud to see our work at the East Jerusalem YMCA Vocational Training Center recognized as a finalist under the Meaningful Work pillar.
For decades, this center has been creating pathways to opportunity through vocational training, psychosocial support, and livelihood programs reaching those who need it most.
We look forward to the winner announcement on 23 July at the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto.
🏆 Finalist Spotlight 9/16
YMCA Vision 2030 Pillar: Meaningful Work
At the East Jerusalem YMCA, this finalist has spent more than seven decades creating opportunities where hope is often hardest to find.
Located in Aqbat Jaber Refugee Camp, the EJ YMCA Vocational Training Center provides vocational education, psychosocial support and livelihood opportunities for young people and vulnerable communities. Even amid conflict and uncertainty, the centre has continued to adapt and serve those who need it most.
Impact:
• More than 1,000 beneficiaries reached between 2021 and 2025.
• Over 400 students, trainees and community members benefit from the centre every day.
• Approximately 85% of graduates move into employment, self-employment or income-generating opportunities.
This finalist demonstrates that meaningful work begins with resilience, opportunity and a commitment to never stop serving communities.
🏆 The winner will be announced on 23 July at the 21st YMCA World Council in Toronto.
