AQBDU strongly condemns the Israeli attack on the besieged and heavily crowded Gaza Strip killing 65+ including 16+ children, and the Israeli targeting of civilian residential towers dropping hundreds into homelessness and poverty in a matter of seconds.

AQBDU ensures its solidarity with the people of Sheikh Jarrah confronting Israeli ethnic cleansing and displacement both recognized as war crimes. We are also in solidarity with the Palestinian people facing settler mob violence, police brutality and armed soldiers in hundreds of Palestinians cities and villages.

Today, Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated with heavy hearts and tears while are minds are with those wounded, displaced and killed.

We are so pleased to announce that the International Palestine Debate Academy from June 8th-11th was a success. We are proud of all of the participants that represented AlQuds Bard College for Arts and Sciences, Al-Quds University جامعة القدس, An-Najah National University, Arab American University / الجامعة العربية الأمريكية, Bethlehem University, Birzeit University | جامعة بيرزيت, and the Good Shepherd Swedish School as well as the overwhelming support from Athens EUDC 2019, Thailand World University Debating Championship and the sponsorship from Bard Center for Civic Engagement.

The first two days of the academy consisted of simultaneous day-long trainings held at Al Quds University and An-Najah National University. The latter half of the academy was a two-day national tournament held at the Arab American University in Ramallah. There were five open rounds of debates then finals with motions ranging from privacy vs public good, migration when weighing a country’s security, representation of developing countries, validity of vigilante groups, and choosing jobs of passion vs jobs of high-profile.

Congratulations to Mohammad Jubeh (An-Najah) and Taima Andulhadi (Birzeit) for winning first place in the tournament! We also want to congratulate AQB students Dhalia Alayassa and Ramez Hayek for winning 7th and 10th best speaker, respectively; and Mariam Alqam for winning 1st best novice speaker.
