The Honors Anatomy & Physiology students wrapped up the school year with a visit to the UPR Medical Sciences Campus. They toured the state-of-the-art library, observed fully dissected cadavers at the Neurobiology & Anatomy Lab, and explored human anatomy through the Anatomage Table, an advanced touchscreen 3-D visualization system for anatomy education that uses real human cadaveric data for visual dissection.

The experience continued at the UPR School of Pharmacy with a presentation on the history of pharmacy in Puerto Rico and a visit to the Museum of Pharmacy and Medicinal Plants.

Opportunities like these provide students with a unique perspective on the interconnected fields of anatomy, medical sciences, and healthcare.

Biology students stepped into the role of doctors as they explored the human body systems through interactive presentations designed to bring science to life.

One meaningful moment came when Alexandria Carlo ’27 presented on the endocrine system alongside her mother, Dr. Yanira Pagán-Carlo, a pediatric endocrinologist. Together, they gave students a firsthand look into the field, while Dr. Pagán also shared insights from her own scientific research.

Thank you to Dr. Pagán for sharing her time, experience, and passion for science with our students. Opportunities like this help Hurricanes connect classroom learning with real careers and scientific discovery.

Plenty of imagination filled the Elementary Library as our second graders wrapped up the school year with a Poetry Slam celebration.

Students proudly read aloud two original poems they wrote during their Poetry Unit, sharing their creativity and personalities with families gathered to cheer them on. A special way to close a year full of growth and self-expression.

At SJS, students find their voice through meaningful hands-on learning experiences that build confidence from an early age.
