🤍 What’s happening isn’t just “a lot.” 🤍
It’s systemic.
And systemic harm shows up in therapy rooms
as anxiety, grief, and exhaustion.
We don’t pathologize survival.
We name the context.
You don’t have to carry this alone.
Support is a right, not a privilege.
Community care is how we survive.
That’s the practice.
That’s the commitment.

Rosa Parks did not act alone, on impulse, or without consequence.
Her resistance was part of a larger movement, one that demanded sacrifice, coordination, and sustained commitment.

Today is not only about remembrance. It’s about asking ourselves:
Where are we being called to act with intention?
How are we preparing ourselves and our communities to challenge injustice when the moment demands it?

At CSJ, we honor Rosa Parks by continuing the work of collective accountability, advocacy, and liberation within counseling and beyond.

A Time to Refuse Silence

There are moments when neutrality is not ethical restraint, it is abdication.
This is one of those moments.

Counselors are witnessing real harm, real fear, and real displacement.
The ACA Code of Ethics is clear: advocacy is not optional. It is part of our ethical responsibility.

Refusing silence does not require heroism.
It requires honesty, courage, and collective action.

🖊️ By Dr. Sailume Walo-Roberts, President-Elect, Counselors for Social Justice

Call to Action:
✨ Speak up in your professional spaces
✨ Integrate advocacy into practice, teaching, and supervision
✨ Support community-based care and resistance
✨ Refuse narratives that dehumanize under the guise of “neutrality”

Tomorrow is today. The urgency is now.
