Multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary project focused in studying the environmental contamination in PR and its contribution to preterm birth.

Puerto Rico Testsite for Exploring Contamination Threat (PROTECT) is a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional center aim to reduce the environmental contamination exposure and reduce the preterm birth rates. PROTECT UPRM studies the fate and transport of contaminants in karst groundwater systems. The project’s specific aims are directed at characterizing fate and transport processes and concentration distributions in northern Puerto Rico.
