Catalyst Consulting Association (CCA) is an association that is dedicated to the use of consulting tools in the professional development of students and other associations in the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez. You will learn new skills and polish current ones from resume building, public speaking to recruiting. One of the most important aspects of the association is its multidisciplinary app
roach to problem solving. Working as a team with students from different departments helps to create a fuller understanding of the big picture and how to effectively solve a problem, similar to the working environment. We have been able to impact 200+ students. In just one year we were able to get membership up from a 6 man team to a 26 man operation. We have freshmen all the way to Seniors who are from different departments. We have people who are in Finance, Biotechnology, Engineering, Physics, Math and Information Systems. This diversity of knowledge is what makes Catalyst so flexible, adaptable and enables us to solve any problem for our clients in an "Out of the Box" way. We had 10+ clients (student organizations) where 50% were repeat business. Our clients range from Business Administration to Engineering while our projects involve culture change, technical innovation, and individual empowerment. Catalyst develops individuals who are looking for their first internship, COOP, research opportunity and provides the tools and the experience to help them get there. Members have obtained internship and Coop opportunities with companies like GE, Boeing, GM, etc. Although the association has a firm focus on professional development, it isn’t all about business. The relationships that are made between students from different departments are tenacious in character, sharing in activities that can range from taco night to general meetings.
