Friendship Woodridge International School's Puerto Rico Excursion 2019

Our trip to the Yunque National Rainforest and Seven Seas Beach yesterday was amazing!

Day 2 of excursions:

We have spent the day so far at Hacienda Ranch in Junco, PR.

Scholars learned about the local agricultural and the indigenous people to Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands, the Taíno.

Now we are off to 💃 salsa dancing!

Day 1 of excursions:

We visited Old San Juan and learned about the history of the island. Puerto Rico has a rich history that includes manner other cultures.

We also went to Castillo San Felipe Del Morro, a 16th century fort, created to protect the island from attacks.

Day 1 of Excursions:

We’ve started our day at Arecibo Observatory in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to see the Arecibo Telescope.

It is the largest single dish radio telescope in the world! 😮 It was built into a large limestone sinkhole and is about 1,000 feet (305 meters) across, 167 feet deep, and covers an area of about twenty acres.

We learned a lot about the research and space explorations conducted.
