Our partner school, Asuncion Rodriguez de Sala, in the heavily damaged city of Guayanilla has had five of it’s families rendered homeless. They need our help! On the 23rd of January El Pueblo Unido is planning a relief trip to help these families get back on their feet! To help us support these families please donate above! In the coming weeks, every donation we receive will go straight to the families and communities of Ponce and Guayanilla and with your donations we can help these families find new housing and buy necessary supplies so that they can return to their normal lives. ¡Ayuda Puerto Rico Ahora!
The photos below are the collapsed cathedral and our partner school in Guayanilla.
In the past month the south coast of Puerto Rico has faced non stop earthquakes, the highest registering at 6.4 on the Richter Scale. The destruction from these quakes have pushed many families in the south out of their normal lives. Most of Puerto Rico’s infrastructure is not capable of handling earthquakes. In fact, 95% of Puerto Rican Schools are not up to current earthquake codes. Homes are destroyed, Schools are closed, and most are not sure when they will recover.
