One-to-one correspondence is the ability to match one object with one number (or one object with another object) without skipping or repeating. It’s a fundamental math skill children usually develop in preschool and kindergarten.
Why It Matters
• Builds the foundation for number sense and early math.
• Helps children understand that numbers represent actual quantities.
• Encourages fairness and turn-taking
• Supports later concepts like addition, subtraction, and even multiplication.
👉 When learned through play, it feels natural as children are exploring, having fun, and building math confidence at the same time.
