After eight inspiring days in Wrocław, the Social Learning in Youth Work training course has officially come to an end!
From September 22–30, 44 youth leaders representing 11 European countries worked side by side to explore self-directed and social learning as tools to support NEET youth – young people who are not in education, employment, or training.

The program gave space to develop innovative methods, such as digital leadership practices, reintegration through volunteering, and new approaches to working with young people from diverse backgrounds – including rural areas, migrant communities, and ethnic minorities.

Beyond the tools and methods, the participants also built something even more powerful: a European NEET Youth Support Network, which will continue sharing best practices and seeking joint projects in the future.

This Erasmus+ project, co-financed by the European Union and coordinated in Poland by Futurum, highlighted how much we can achieve when we combine creativity, collaboration, and intercultural dialogue. The outcomes will now be implemented locally across Europe, ensuring the impact continues to grow long after the training has ended.

The Social Learning in Youth Work training course has just wrapped up in Wrocław!

For more than a week, youth workers and leaders engaged in workshops, role plays, and group projects designed to strengthen leadership, foster intercultural competencies, and test innovative approaches to non-formal education. Through self-directed and social learning methods, they discovered how to empower NEET youth by helping them recognize their strengths, follow their passions, and take an active role in their communities.

One of the highlights was the creation of local volunteering project ideas, which participants will now adapt in their own countries. These projects are designed to connect young people with volunteering opportunities, community resources, and European initiatives like Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps.

The training was not only about methods but also about people – building trust, overcoming differences, and learning how to collaborate effectively in an intercultural environment. Every participant left with new skills, stronger confidence, and the motivation to continue working for an inclusive Europe where every young person can thrive.

This week in Wrocław, youth workers from 10 European countries are exploring new ways to empower NEET youth through creativity, self-directed learning, and volunteerism.

As part of the Social Learning in Youth Work project, co-funded by the EU, participants are practicing tools like role plays, IT-supported learning, and personal learning networks, while also sharing over 30 innovative non-formal methods.

They are testing approaches inspired by Maslow’s model and self-directed learning stages, and even co-creating future voluntary projects within the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps frameworks. By the end of the training, they’ll have co-created open educational resources and designed new voluntary projects to bring back to their communities.

Step by step, we’re shaping more inclusive opportunities for young people across Europe!
