Think you know English plurals?
Some of the most common words don’t follow the usual -s rule.

Can you get all of these right? 👇

🦷 tooth → teeth — зуб → зуби
🦶 foot → feet — стопа → стопи
🪿 goose → geese — гуска → гуси
🦌 deer → deer — олень → олені
🐂 ox → oxen — віл → воли

❌ two tooth → ✅ two teeth
❌ two foots → ✅ two feet
❌ two gooses → ✅ two geese
❌ two deers → ✅ two deer
❌ two oxes → ✅ two oxen

English plurals can be tricky, especially when the usual -s rule doesn’t work!

👤 person — людина → people — люди
👨 man — чоловік → men — чоловіки
👩 woman — жінка → women — жінки
🧒 child — дитина → children — діти

Trying to sound “too academic” can actually lower the quality of your IELTS Writing. ✍️

You don’t need to replace every simple word with a complicated one.

❌ Many people utilize social media.
✅ Many people use social media.

“Utilize” isn’t grammatically wrong—but “use” sounds clearer and more natural in this sentence.

Remember: clear and accurate English always beats complicated English.
