Day 3 of the Cinematography Intensive Workshop 🎬✨

On the third day of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to work with acclaimed film director Bartek Konopka in the inspiring surroundings of Letnisko Bajka.

The focus of the day was how changing perspective, assumptions, or cinematic convention can completely transform the same scene. Through practical exercises, participants explored multiple ways of telling a story using the very same material.

Day 2 of the Cinematography Intensive Workshop 🌿🎥✨

This time, our participants had the opportunity to learn from cinematographer Bartek Piotrowski, exploring the craft of visual storytelling in the breathtaking landscapes of Kampinos Forest.

Surrounded by nature, we focused on practical exercises that challenged participants to work with natural light, composition, movement, and cinematic atmosphere in real-world conditions.

The forest became our open-air classroom, inspiring creativity and collaboration among filmmakers from around the world.

Lecturer joining the Cinematography Intensive Workshop is Bartosz Piotrowski.

A member of the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC), Bartosz is an accomplished cinematographer with more than 20 years of experience across feature films, commercials, and music videos. A graduate of the Cinematography Department at the Film School in Katowice, he also works in photography and poster design, bringing a multidisciplinary visual perspective to his craft.

His cinematography has been recognized with the PSC Award for the documentary “Kraftówna in Wonderland”. His credits include acclaimed productions such as “The Mighty Angel” (“Pod Mocnym Aniołem”), “Life Feels Good” (“Chce się żyć”), and “Osiecka”, as well as television series including “The Teach” (“Belfer”) and “The Archivist II” (“Archiwista II”).

During the workshop, Bartosz will lead classes focused on camera movement and support systems, including dolly and Easy Rig techniques. Alongside his work behind the camera, he is an experienced film educator who has conducted numerous workshops and professional training programs.

Introducing lecturer joining our upcoming Cinematography Intensive Workshop: Rafael Kapeliński.

An award-winning writer, director, and screenwriting mentor, Rafał is a graduate of the University of Washington (MBA), the London Film School, and the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield. He is the co-founder of Aurora Film Production.

Since 2006, Rafał has written and directed numerous short and feature films that have received more than twenty-five international awards and have been screened at major festivals including Cannes, Berlinale, Oberhausen, Austin Film Festival, New Horizons and Brest. His feature debut, “Butterfly Kisses” (BBC Films / Film London), won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2017.

Alongside his filmmaking career, Rafał is an experienced educator and lecturer in directing, visual storytelling, and screenwriting. He has taught at leading institutions including the London Film School, American Film Institute in Los Angeles, London Film Academy, The Central London Film School, and Northern Film School. He is also the author of “The Story Spectrum”, a project development guide published in the United Kingdom.

Another lecturer joining the upcoming Cinematography Intensive Workshop will be Jarosław Sterczewski.

A film colorist active in the industry since 1998, Jarosław specializes in feature films and documentaries. His impressive portfolio includes both Polish and international productions that have been screened and awarded at major film festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Venice, IDFA Amsterdam, Toronto, Camerimage, the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, and the Kraków Film Festival.

Alongside his professional work, he is also a lecturer at the National Film School in Łódź (PWSFTviT), where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with future filmmakers.

Jarosław’s workshops offer a unique opportunity to explore the creative and technical side of color grading with a professional whose work has been recognized on the international festival circuit. His sessions are always a valuable source of practical knowledge and inspiration for emerging filmmakers.

Introducing another lecturer joining our upcoming Cinematography Intensive Workshop: Piotr Żurawski.

A cinematographer, camera operator, and 2nd unit cinematographer, Piotr is a graduate of the Polish National Film School in Łódź (PWSFTviT), where he earned his cinematography degree magna cm laude. His work combines contemporary filmmaking technologies with traditional film and analog techniques, creating distinctive and emotionally engaging visual storytelling.

Projects he has worked on have been screened at major international festivals, including Cannes Film Festival, Camerimage, Warsaw Film Festival, Gdynia Film Festival, OFF Camera, Krakow Film Festival, Millennium Docs Against Gravity, AFI Docs, and New Horizons IFF. His first feature film as cinematographer, “Jesters” (“Błazny”), directed by Gabriela Muskała, premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival.

Alongside narrative filmmaking, Piotr has collaborated on projects for Netflix, HBO/Max, Canal+, and international brands such as Red Bull, Electrolux, Philips, LG, Lidl, and PZU.

Lecturer joining the upcoming Cinematography Intensive Workshop will be Nicolas Villegas.

A Polish-Canadian cinematographer with over 15 years of experience, Nicolas is a multiple award-winning author of photography, and a member of both the Polish and Colombian Societies of Cinematographers. Early in his career, he received the Silver Tadpole award at Camerimage for his cinematography on “Ludzie normalni”.

In 2022, he was honoured at the Młodzi i Film for “Ćmy”, praised for “the atmosphere of the frame and light as a narrator of the story.” His work was also recognized with the Jan Machulski Award for Best Cinematography in the short film “Potwór”.

Nicolas’ portfolio spans both Polish and international productions, including feature films, documentaries, series, and commercials. He brings a highly versatile visual approach, shaped by years of experience across different markets and formats.

Another lecturer joining the upcoming Cinematography Intensive Workshop will be Mateusz Czuchnowski.

A graduate of the Cinematography Department at the Łódź Film School, Mateusz is the cinematographer behind feature films such as “Prześwit”, “Small Gods”, and “BORC”, as well as numerous documentary productions.

He is currently preparing for a thriller/horror project directed by Paweł Wróbel, and in November will begin shooting “Bearhu”, directed by Alexandros Skouras (prod. HAKA Films).

Last year, he received the Jan Machulski Award for Best Cinematography, funded by the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC), for the film “Granica”, directed by Maria Magriel (prod. Studio Munka).

While still a student, he presented his short films twice at the Camerimage festival — in 2017 in the Student Etudes Competition with “Sen o Warszawie”, and in 2018 in the Etudes Panorama section with “Mantykora”.

The documentary film “The Last One”, for which he served as cinematographer, was selected for the Short Documentary Competition at Camerimage 2021.

Mateusz is a true powerhouse of positive energy, and workshops with him are always an inspiring and highly creative experience.
