🇬🇧⬇️ Wczoraj na UW odbyły się obrady „Leaders Forum powered by Poland: Better Europe”, podczas których grono międzynarodowych ekspertów debatowało na temat wyzwań, jakie stoją przed Europą.

🎤 Spotkanie otworzył kanclerz UW, Robert Grey, który zwrócił uwagę, że w Europie zmuszonej do szybkiego dostosowywania się do zachodzących zmian to właśnie uniwersytety odgrywają kluczową rolę, będąc miejscami, w których znaczenie mają fakty, argumenty i rzetelna wiedza, a idee mogą być poddawane dyskusji, kwestionowane i rozwijane.

– Cieszę się, że możemy kontynuować rozmowę rozpoczętą podczas tegorocznego Leaders Forum w Davos. Kilka miesięcy później świat pokazał, że wyzwania, o których wtedy rozmawialiśmy, stały się jeszcze bardziej aktualne. W obliczu niestabilności geopolitycznej, rosnącej konkurencji gospodarczej i dynamicznych zmian technologicznych znaczenie dialogu i współpracy staje się większe niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej – podkreślił Robert Grey.

🏛️ Leaders Forum powered by Poland to organizowana przez Centrum Stosunków Międzynarodowych i THINKTANK platforma wymiany doświadczeń oraz spostrzeżeń na temat wyzwań współczesności. Spotkanie miało miejsce w Starej Bibliotece Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, który jest partnerem wydarzenia.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, the “Leaders Forum powered by Poland: Better Europe” took place at the University of Warsaw (UW), bringing together a group of international experts to discuss the challenges facing Europe.

🎤 The event was opened by the Chancellor of the University of Warsaw, Robert Grey, who emphasized that in a Europe forced to adapt rapidly to ongoing changes, universities play a crucial role as places where facts, evidence, and reliable knowledge matter, and where ideas can be discussed, challenged, and further developed.

“I am pleased that we can continue the conversation that began during this year’s Leaders Forum in Davos. Just a few months later, the world has shown that the challenges we discussed then have become even more relevant. In the face of geopolitical instability, growing economic competition, and rapid technological change, the importance of dialogue and cooperation is greater than ever before,” Robert Grey stressed.

🏛️ Leaders Forum powered by Poland is a platform for exchanging experiences and insights on the challenges of the modern world, organized by the Centre for International Relations (CSM) and THINKTANK. The event took place in the Old Library of the University of Warsaw, which is a partner of the initiative.

🇬🇧⬇️ Budynek Wydziału Psychologii UW z Nagrodą Architektoniczną Prezydenta m.st. Warszawy!👏

🥇 Gmach Wydział Psychologii UW otrzymał Grand Prix oraz nagrodę za najlepszą architekturę użyteczności publicznej w 12. edycji konkursu. Nagroda Architektoniczna Prezydenta m.st. Warszawy przyznawana jest projektom, które wyróżniają się najwyższym poziomem rozwiązań funkcjonalnych, przestrzennych, a także wyjątkowym znaczeniem społecznym i środowiskowym.

😍 Ale to nie jedyne wyróżnienie dla naszego gmachu!

⭐️ Nasz budynek otrzymał również Nagrodę Architektoniczną „Polityki”. To wyróżnienie w dziedzinie architektury i ładu przestrzennego, którym redakcja tygodnika „Polityka” nagradza realizacje stanowiące symbol dobrego smaku, projekty przyjazne ludziom i poprawiające estetykę otoczenia.

⭐️ Projekt budynku Wydziału Psychologii UW otrzymał także Główną Nagrodę w edycji 2026 Konkursu Nagroda Roku SARP. To wyróżnienie za najlepszy obiekt architektoniczny zrealizowany do końca 2025 roku w Polsce. Nagroda została przyznana pracowni Projekt Praga, która opracowała projekt architektoniczny budynku.

🏛️ Nowy gmach Wydziału Psychologii UW został oddany do użytku w 2025 roku. Korzysta z niego około 2 tys. osób – przede wszystkim studentów, doktorantów i pracowników wydziału. W budynku znajdują się m.in.: aula na ponad 380 osób, sale seminaryjne, wykładowe i komputerowe, pomieszczenia do pracy grupowej oraz laboratoria badawcze. Na dachu mieści się ogród, dostępny jest również taras widokowy.

🥇 The University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Psychology building received the Grand Prix and the award for best public architecture in the 12th edition of the competition. The Mayor of Warsaw’s Architecture Award is granted to architectural projects that stand out for their exceptional functional and spatial solutions, as well as their unique social and environmental significance.

😍 But that’s not the only honor for our building!

⭐️ The building also received the “Polityka” Architecture Award. This distinction in the field of architecture and spatial planning is awarded by the editorial staff of the weekly magazine “Polityka” to projects that symbolize good taste, are people-friendly, and enhance the aesthetics of their surroundings.

⭐️ The design of the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Psychology building also received the Grand Prize in the 2026 edition of the SARP Award of the Year competition. This award recognizes the best architectural project completed in Poland by the end of 2025. The prize was awarded to the Projekt Praga studio, which developed the building’s architectural design.

🏛️ The new building of the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Psychology was opened in 2025. It is used by approximately 2,000 people—primarily students and faculty staff. The building features, among other things, an auditorium seating over 380 people, seminar rooms, lecture halls, computer labs, group study rooms, and research laboratories. There is a rooftop garden, and an observation deck is also available.

🏆 Nagrodę z rąk prezesa i założyciela Fundacji Perspektywy Waldemara Siwińskiego odebrał rektor UW, prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak.

– Bardzo dziękuję moim kolegom i koleżankom z Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, szczególnie reprezentującym te wydziały i kierunki, które zostały dziś wyróżnione. 🥉 Na 3. pozycji wśród uczelni akademickich uplasowała się Politechnika Warszawska.

⭐️ Dla maturzystów Ranking Perspektyw stanowi cenne źródło informacji przy wyborze studiów, a dla uczelni jest podsumowaniem efektów pracy i osiągnięć z całego roku.

🏆 The award was presented by Waldemar Siwiński, president and founder of the Perspektywy Foundation, and accepted by the rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to my colleagues at the University of Warsaw, especially those representing the faculties and programs that were recognized today. I also congratulate the other universities included in the ranking. Our cooperation has been developing intensively recently; we have signed numerous agreements concerning, among other things, cybersecurity, quantum physics, and the social sciences and humanities. I am also pleased that, as Polish institutions, we are playing an increasingly important role in Europe” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, during the ceremony.

📈 In addition, as many as 17 degree programs offered at the University of Warsaw were recognized as the best in the “Perspektywy 2026” Degree Program Ranking. Spotkanie składało się z czterech sesji analizujących sytuację międzynarodową. Eksperci debatowali na tematy takie jak:

Fundacja CSM została zarejestrowana w 1996 roku. Jest niezależnym, pozarządowym ośrodkiem zajmującym się problemami polityki międzynarodowej oraz polityką zagraniczną i europejską Polski.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, a gathering of experts from the Center for International Relations took place at the University of Warsaw.

The meeting consisted of four sessions analyzing the international situation. Experts debated topics such as:

🔵 “Europe – The End of Power or Strategic Autonomy and Hard Power?”
🔵 “U.S.–China Rivalry: A New Cold War or Pragmatic Coexistence with Divided Spheres of Influence in a Multipolar World?”
🔵 “The Global West and the Ambitions of the Global South”
🔵 “The Wars in Ukraine and Iran – Turning Points or the ‘New Normal’?”

The event was held in the Old Library building of the University of Warsaw.

The Center for International Relations Foundation (CSM) was registered in 1996. It is an independent, non-governmental institution dedicated to issues of international politics, as well as Poland’s foreign and European policy.

🇬🇧⬇️ Dziś, 22 czerwca, na placu budowy nowego budynku Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego odbyło się symboliczne zawieszenie „wiechy”.💐

🏗️ Ten tradycyjny zwyczaj oznacza zakończenie dużego etapu prac budowlanych. W ten sposób uczciliśmy postępy w pracach na terenie budowy nowego gmachu Wydziału Dziennikarstwa, Informacji i Bibliologii przy ul. Bednarskiej 2/4 w Warszawie.

👤 W uroczystości wzięli udział m.in. przedstawiciele władz Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, władz państwowych i samorządowych, członkowie społeczności akademickiej, projektanci budynku, reprezentanci Generalnego Wykonawcy i Inwestora Zastępczego oraz zaproszeni goście.

– Budowa przy ul. Bednarskiej jest jedną z największych inwestycji Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Nieustannie dążymy do tego, żeby zapewnić naszym studentom, doktorantom i pracownikom jak najlepsze warunki kształcenia i pracy. Jesteśmy przekonani, że będą one sprzyjać prowadzeniu doskonałych badań oraz dydaktyki na światowym poziomie. Symbolicznie podsumowujemy teraz ważny etap prac na drodze do tego celu – mówi prof. 🏢 Z budynku UW na Powiślu korzystać będą studenci, doktoranci i pracownicy Wydział Dziennikarstwa, Informacji i Bibliologii UW oraz Wydział Nauk Ekonomicznych, Uniwersytet Warszawski. W nowym gmachu swoją siedzibę będzie miała także uniwersytecka rozgłośnia – Radio Kampus.

🇬🇧 Today, June 22, a symbolic topping-out ceremony took place at the construction site of the new University of Warsaw building.💐

🏗️ This traditional custom marks the completion of a major phase of construction work. In this way, we celebrated the progress made at the construction site of the new building for the Faculty of Journalism, Information, and Library Science at 2/4 Bednarska Street in Warsaw.

👤 The ceremony was attended by, among others, representatives of the University of Warsaw administration, state and local government officials, members of the academic community, the building’s designers, representatives of the General Contractor and the Substitute Investor, as well as invited guests.

“The construction project on Bednarska Street is one of the University of Warsaw’s largest investments. We constantly strive to provide our students, doctoral candidates, and staff with the best possible conditions for learning and working. We are convinced that these conditions will foster excellent research and world-class teaching. We are now symbolically marking the completion of an important phase of work on the path toward this goal,” says Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, rector of the University of Warsaw.

🏢 The University of Warsaw building in Powiśle will be used by students, doctoral candidates, and staff of the Faculty of Journalism, Information, and Library Science at the University of Warsaw, as well as the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw. The university’s radio station, Radio Kampus, will also be based in the new building.

– The building on Bednarska Street will be a modern and functional environment for work and learning, tailored to the needs of today’s users. This is yet another investment that strengthens the University’s potential for growth and creates the conditions for achieving its strategic goals. “We are carrying out projects that combine high-quality architecture with the principles of sustainable development and create conditions for the growth of the academic community,” emphasizes Prof. Ewa Krogulec, Vice Rector for Development at the University of Warsaw.

🫶 Ranking „Uczelnia Otwarta” wyróżnia szkoły wyższe, które tworzą dostępne, bezpieczne i przyjazne środowisko do studiowania. Ocenie podlegało pięć obszarów: wsparcie studentów ze szczególnymi potrzebami, wsparcie socjalno-bytowe, wyrównywanie szans edukacyjnych, przeciwdziałanie zjawiskom niepożądanym oraz wspieranie aktywności naukowej i pozanaukowej studentów.

🥇 W kategorii uniwersytetów klasycznych Uniwersytet Warszawski zajął 1. miejsce, a w klasyfikacji generalnej uplasował się na 2. miejscu w kraju.

👤 Wyróżnienia zostały wręczone podczas konferencji podsumowującej ranking. W imieniu Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego nagrody odebrała dr Marta Widy-Behiesse, pełnomocniczka rektora ds. jakości kształcenia.

– Jestem bardzo dumny, że Uniwersytet Warszawski został uznany za najbardziej otwarty uniwersytet w Polsce. 🫶 The “Open University” ranking recognizes universities that create an accessible, safe, and welcoming environment for students. The evaluation covered five areas: support for students with special needs, social and living support, equal educational opportunities, prevention of undesirable phenomena, and support for students’ academic and extracurricular activities.

🥇 In the category of traditional universities, the University of Warsaw took first place, and in the overall ranking, it placed second in the country.

👤 The awards were presented during a conference summarizing the ranking. Dr. Marta Widy-Behiesse, the Rector’s Representative for Educational Quality, accepted the awards on behalf of the University of Warsaw.

“I am very proud that the University of Warsaw has been recognized as the most open university in Poland. This distinction confirms that high-quality education and research can go hand in hand with a commitment to the well-being, safety, and equal opportunities of our students. 🇬🇧⬇️ Badacze z Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego i Uniwersytetu w Tiranie odkryli pozostałości dużej świątyni hellenistycznej na terenie starożytnego miasta w Albanii!

🪏 Od 2018 roku archeolodzy z Ośrodek Badań nad Antykiem Europy Południowo-Wschodniej UW prowadzą badania na terenie Bushat, miasta położonego w północnej Albanii.

⛰️ Miejsce to kryje pozostałości rozległego iliryjskiego ośrodka osadniczego. Jest jednym z nielicznych w Europie przykładów „zaginionego miasta” – miejsca, które przez stulecia zostało wymazane nie tylko z map, ale również z ludzkiej pamięci.

⛪️ W zakończonym sezonie badawczym archeolodzy z UW i Uniwersytetu w Tiranie odsłonili w tym miejscu kompletne kamienne fundamenty dużej prostokątnej budowli. Jej proporcje odpowiadają klasycznym świątyniom greckim.

– Sądząc po lokalizacji budowli na szczycie wzgórza oraz jej orientacji względem stron świata, możemy uznać, że są to pozostałości świątyni, która od IV do II wieku p.n.e. wieńczyła miejski akropol – mówi prof. Piotr Dyczek, dyrektor Ośrodka Badań nad Antykiem Europy Południowo-Wschodniej UW.

🔎 Odkrycie ma szczególne znaczenie dla badań nad kulturą iliryjską. Jest to pierwsza świątynia iliryjska odkryta na terenie północnej Albanii.

🇬🇧 Researchers from the University of Warsaw and the University of Tirana have discovered the remains of a large Hellenistic temple within the ancient city in Albania!

🪏 Since 2018, archaeologists from the Center for Research on the Antiquity of Southeastern Europe at the University of Warsaw have been conducting research in Bushat, a city located in northern Albania.

⛰️ This site harbors the remains of a vast Illyrian settlement. It is one of the few examples in Europe of a “lost city” — a place that, over the centuries, has been erased not only from maps but also from human memory.

⛪️ During the recently concluded research season, archaeologists from the University of Warsaw and the University of Tirana uncovered the complete stone foundations of a large rectangular structure at this site. Its proportions correspond to those of classical Greek temples.

“Judging by the building’s location atop a hill and its orientation relative to the cardinal directions, we can conclude that these are the remains of a temple that crowned the city’s acropolis from the 4th to the 2nd century BCE,” says Prof. Piotr Dyczek, director of the Center for Research on the Antiquity of Southeastern Europe at the University of Warsaw.

🔎 The discovery is of particular significance for research on Illyrian culture. It is the first Illyrian temple discovered in northern Albania.

🇬🇧⬇️ Podwójny sukces naszych zawodniczek! 🏆 Reprezentantki UW zdobyły w ostatnim czasie złote medale w aż dwóch dyscyplinach na Akademickich Mistrzostwach Polski 👏

🐎 W Radzionkowie, podczas jubileuszowej, dziesiątej edycji AMP w jeździectwie, konkurencja była naprawdę duża. Do udziału w zawodach zgłosiło się ponad 200 zawodniczek i zawodników.

🥳 Tym bardziej cieszymy się, że naszym reprezentantkom udało się stanąć na podium - i to nie raz! W kategorii AMATOR w skokach przez przeszkody srebrny medal zdobyła Emilia Michalska na JAMES.R, a z kolei w ujeżdżeniu w kategorii PROFI drugie miejsce zajęła Natalia Szataniak na Scolari’s Sixpack.

🏇 Najlepszą zawodniczką AMP w klasyfikacji kombinowanej (uwzględniającej wyniki zarówno w skokach przez przeszkody, jak i ujeżdżeniu), została Jagna Grabowska z UW.

🏆 Uniwersytet Warszawski zajął też pierwsze miejsce w klasyfikacji generalnej uczelni, zdobywając największą liczbę punktów.

⚽️ Równie emocjonujące okazały się Akademickie Mistrzostwa Polski w piłce nożnej kobiet, w których rywalizowało aż 25 zespołów z całej Polski.

🥇 W półfinałach nasze zawodniczki pokonały Uniwersytet Rzeszowski aż 4:1, a w finale zmierzyły się z Uniwersytetem im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Mecz zakończył się zwycięstwem naszej drużyny 1:0, a jedynego gola w meczu strzeliła Wiktoria Derylak z UW.

– AMP-y to bardzo fajna impreza, która daje możliwość nie tylko sportowej rywalizacji, ale także integracji z zawodniczkami z innych drużyn. Cieszymy się ogromnie, że udało nam się wygrać. To pierwszy taki sukces w historii naszej sekcji. W futsalu zdobyłyśmy wcześniej brązowy medal, a teraz zrobiłyśmy kolejny krok naprzód i sięgnęłyśmy po złoto. Jesteśmy bardzo szczęśliwe i dumne z tego osiągnięcia. I pozdrawiamy wszystkich kibiców! – podkreśliła Agnieszka Gołębiowska, jedna z zawodniczek UW.

🇬🇧 A double success for our athletes! 🏆 Representatives of UW have recently won gold medals in two different disciplines at the Polish University Championships (AMP) 👏

🐎 In Radzionków, during the jubilee 10th edition of the Polish University Equestrian Championships, the competition was fierce. More than 200 athletes entered the event.

🥳 We are therefore especially proud that our representatives managed to step onto the podium – and not just once! In the AMATEUR category of show jumping, Emilia Michalska riding JAMES.R won the silver medal, while in dressage, Natalia Szataniak riding Scolari’s Sixpack took second place in the PROFESSIONAL category.

🏇 Jagna Grabowska from the University of Warsaw was named the best athlete in the combined classification, which takes into account results from both show jumping and dressage.

🏆 The University of Warsaw also secured first place in the overall university standings, earning the highest number of points.

⚽️ The Polish University Women’s Football Championships proved equally exciting, with as many as 25 teams from across Poland competing for the title.

🥇 In the semi-finals, our team defeated the University of Rzeszów 4:1. In the final, they faced Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The match ended in a 1:0 victory for our team, with the decisive and only goal of the game scored by Wiktoria Derylak from the University of Warsaw.

“The Polish University Championships are a fantastic event that offers not only the opportunity for sporting competition, but also for building connections with athletes from other teams. We are absolutely delighted that we managed to win. This is the first achievement of this kind in the history of our section. We had previously won a bronze medal in futsal, and now we have taken another step forward and reached the top, winning gold. We are very happy and proud of this accomplishment. And we would like to thank all our supporters!” said Agnieszka Gołębiowska, one of the University of Warsaw players.

💬 Obrady będą poświęcone zagadnieniom odporności systemów demokratycznych w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej w kontekście obecnej sytuacji geopolitycznej. Swoją obecność potwierdzili wybitni goście oraz eksperci z wielu państw naszego regionu.

🇬🇧 On 23 June, the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw will host the international academic conference “Building Resilience Through Sharing Democratic Experiences: a CEI Appraisal”, organized by the Faculty in cooperation with the Central European Initiative and the Institute of Central Europe.

💬 The conference discussions will focus on the resilience of democratic systems in Central and Eastern Europe in the context of the current geopolitical situation. Distinguished guests and experts from many countries across the region have confirmed their participation.

🎓 The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Rector of the University of Warsaw.
