Some treatment steps in this case.
As it’s a high caries risk patient, SS crowns were cemented on all the first primary molars to prevent any caries lesions in those molars in the future. This was the first step in treatment plan.
As clinical crowns of the first molars were not fully erupted, it was much easier to place rubberdam clamps on the cemented SS crowns.
Rubberdam isolation of upper front was completed to follow with pulpotomies in all upper incisors. Upper anteriors have been restored with zirconia crowns.

Famous Dr. Weston Price in his book «Nutrition and Physical Degeneration» described, that high animal fat content in the diet of traditional cultures was associated with low caries risk.
According to Dr.Price adding a mixture of 1/2 tea spoon of cod liver oil, rich in vitamins A and D, and butter from grass fed animals, rich in vitamin K2, 3 times per day to meals low in sugar and starches significantly reduced caries.
And I’m just reminding that there is only one week left before the webinar in nutrition, where you will learn a lot of interesting facts about how to prevent caries through dietary interventions.

All dentists advise their patients to eat less sugar or sweet foods, but they forget to suggest eating enough protein!
Sugary foods create rapid spikes and crashes in blood glucose. The crash ( hypoglycemia ) triggers cravings for more sugar.
Protein slows down gastric emptying and reduces glycemic impact of meals, leading to a steadier glucose and insulin response.
It stimulates release of GLP-1 and PYY peptides in the gut. These hormones slow gastric emptying and send «I’m full» signals to the brain, which reduces the drive to seek quick energy from sugar.
Protein supresses ghrelin (hunger hormone) more effectively, than carbs or fat, leading to longer lasting satiety.
We will discuss more about sugar cravings during the webinar «Beyond brushing - dietary strategies in caries prevention» on October 26, 2025, as it’s important not only to say “Stop eating candy”, but to give advice, how to do that with minimum stress for family and child.

Dear colleagues!
I would like to announce a new unique webinar, dedicated to caries prevention through nutrition.
When: 26 October 2025 at 11 am ( Kiev time ) in Zoom.
Caries prevention is no longer just about brushing and fluorides - it’s about understanding the child as a whole. Nutrition plays a critical role in oral health, yet many dental professionals receive little formal training in this field.
That’s why I’ve prepared unique information for you which can be immediately used in your clinical practice, giving parents practical advices on improving their children’s diet and gaining better results in arresting caries.
Such skills will highlight you as a specialist among other pediatric dentists, helping to attract more patients to your clinic.
YOU WILL LEARN:
✔️Breastfeeding and early childhood caries - is there any link?
✔️Structure of a healthy plate. Carbohydrates, fats, protein, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals and their connection with oral health.
✔️Sugar cravings - what are the reasons and why it’s important for the dentist to know that. What can we recommend to our patients?
✔️Drinking regime for children. Why low water intake is connected with caries.
✔️Healthy snacks - examples which you can offer to your patients
✔️Sugar substitutes - xylitol, erythritol, stevia, etc. Are they being a healthy alternative to sugar and is it worth to add them to child’s diet?
This webinar will equip you with integrative knowledge that empowers you to move beyond drill and fill - and instead, prevent disease at it’s root cause.
Follow the link in Bio register and see you soon 🤗

Do you know that by helping patient’s improve their diet we can make our dental preventive programs more efficient?
Several years ago I became interested in nutrition because of some of my personal health issues. And my interest has lead to enrolment into a College of Naturopathic Medicine in Great Britain for the naturopathic nutrition program. Last year I’ve got a diploma with distinction and received a degree as a nutrition therapist.
Since the start of my education in the field of naturopathy I’ve begone to analyze deeper what and how my patients eat, how is their digestive system working, how they sleep, breathe, what is the amount of stress or physical activity in their lives. I’ve been taking some blood, urine and stool tests to see how their body works and if there are any extra caries predisposing factors present.
Step by step I came to the integrative way of managing caries as a disease.
I believe that caries treatment is not only about restorations. It’s also about eliminating local and general risk factors and strengthening the protective ones.
My instruments are good oral hygiene, nutrition, sleep, physical activity, stress management.
Healthy child has balanced oral microbiome and healthy oral cavity. And vice a versa.
I believe that holistic way of managing our patients is the future of pediatric dentistry.
And I would like to start sharing some information on this topic with you.
Would you be interested?

Quorum sensing - «a sense of quorum» of bacteria in biofilms 🦠
When microorganisms in the oral cavity form biofilms, they use signal molecules to exchange information and become protected from the host’s protective factors. Biofilms must be destroyed, so that bacteria do not show their virulent properties and it is easier for the body to resist caries!
In this case restoration with zirconia and stainless steel crowns, as well as composite restorations were used to treat caries and individualized prevention program was prescribed.
