You don’t need more vocabulary. You need to stop giving every word in your language one English translation. 👀

That’s why sentences like this happen:

❌ I have very work this week.
✅ I have a lot of work this week.

❌ I’m working very this week.
✅ I’m working a lot this week.

The difference?

VERY + adjective/adverb
→ I’m very busy.

A LOT OF + noun
→ I have a lot of work.

A LOT + action
→ I’m working a lot.

English gets much easier when you stop memorizing individual translations and start noticing patterns.

Follow me if you want the small English fixes that make you sound more natural — without another boring grammar lesson. 💜 .l.horton .english

Save this one because VERY / A LOT / A LOT OF will come up again and again.

🐾 Can you guess which word doesn’t belong? 🤔

🐺 Pack — a group of animals that live or travel together.
🐘 Herd — a group of large animals that live or move together.
🦁 Pride — a group of lions that live together.
👤 Individual — one person or animal, not a group.

❌ Why doesn’t INDIVIDUAL fit?

Pack, herd, and pride are collective nouns — special words we use to describe a group of animals.

Individual means one person or animal. It describes a single member, so it isn’t a collective noun.

🤩 And here are some fun animal groupings!

🦓 A dazzle of zebras
🦒 A tower of giraffes
🦈 A shiver of sharks
🦋 A kaleidoscope of butterflies
🦜 A pandemonium of parrots

🎨 Does this color GO WITH that one? 👀

When two things look good together, we can say:

✨ “They go well together.”
✨ “This color goes with that one.”
✨ “Red goes really well with brown.”

❌ Not: “Red matches with brown.”
✅ Better: “Red goes with brown.”
