It's Arrivals Day for CIEE Warsaw - here is Spring 2016 student Alex and his impressive welcome committee: Resident Director Bogdan, SGH student Mateusz and Alex's uncle, who just happens to be Mr. Mirosław Hermaszewski, the first and only Polish cosmonaut (first from the left)!

A warm welcome to all our new students!

The final statistic in CIEE Warsaw alumni series presents which colleges and universities our students had attended. Over 10% of our program participants studied at Georgetown, which effectively meant that we had at least one Georgetown student each term. Many students came from Illinois and Michigan schools.

Do you see your home school?

As we say at CIEE, we change lives, our alumni change the world.

If you haven't yet, feel invited to complete the alumni questionnaire and send CIEE birthday wishes on the organization's 75th anniversary! Link in the first comment.

One way to spot a past CIEE Warsaw program participant is to ask if they know what the drink in the photo is. It's not red wine and these are not grapes!

Past students have told us that blackcurrant juice is hard to come by in the US and even the smell of blackcurrant soap brings back memories of studying abroad in Poland.

If you would like to share other memories from studying abroad with CIEE, be sure to fill out the questionnaire! Link in first comment below

The CIEE Study Center at SGH Warsaw School of Economics accepted a total of 3️8️5️ students 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬. One of the smallest CIEE locations, it would host anywhere between 1 to 16 students in any given semester.

Some of our past students returned to Poland for professional or other study abroad opportunities and even settled here for good! Others have leveraged their study abroad experience in other ways.

As CIEE is turning 75 years old this year, we would love to learn more about our alumni 🎓 and where life has taken them. 🎉

Dear former CIEE Warsaw students, feel invited to tell us how and what you remember from your study abroad by answering any and all questions from the form below. Thank you in advance! 🙏

Hey 𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗘 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘄 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶, did you know that 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 will be 7️5️ years old this year 🎂?

There have been many changes to study abroad and CIEE itself over these decades but what has not changed is that students still study abroad with CIEE, the oldest and largest nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization in the US.

In the coming weeks, expect to see some trivia on past CIEE Warsaw students 🎓 on this page.

Would you like to share your CIEE Warsaw memories or tell us how studying abroad impacted your life? Feel free to comment or submit answers to any and all questions you would like through the questionnaire linked in the first comment. You can also write us here directly 😊

Best wishes to you, wherever life has taken you after your stay with us in Warsaw!

Happy Fourth of July, United States Americans!

In 1926, on the 150th anniversary of Declaration of Independence, almost one out of six Polish citizens sent a "birthday card" that ultimately became 111 bound volumes of Polish Declarations of Admiration and Friendship which were presented to the White House.

Among others, Polish people were expressing their gratitude for US support in the struggle for independence that led to Poland's reappearing on the maps of the world after World War I as the Second Polish Republic.

Eighty one years later, the whole collection of good wishes from Poland to the United States has been digitalized and is available under this link: http://findingaids.loc.gov/db/search/xq/searchMferDsc04.xq?_id=loc.mss.eadmss.ms009133&_faSection=contentsList&_faSubsection=dsc&_dmdid=d4188e22&_start=1&_lines=125

Happy browsing!

(And here is a Washington Post article about the whole endeavor: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2017/07/03/americas-standing-may-be-tumbling-now-but-once-upon-a-time-poland-sent-the-u-s-a-birthday-card-with-5-million-signatures/?utm_term=.2e8060e01b33)

Happy 4th of July, United States Americans!

In 1926, on the 150th century of winning independence by the United States, almost every sixth Polish citizen (or 5.5 million people!) signed a "birthday card" that later became part of the 111 bound volumes of "Polish Declarations of Admiration and Friendship" sent to the White House. Among others, Polish citizens were grateful to America for providing support for the independence struggle that led to the Republic of Poland reappearing on the maps of the world following World War I in 1918.

This is what students coming to Warsaw dress like...

..when they attend a group cultural outing!

In the second week of Spring 2017 Central European Studies program our semester students also watched Andrzej Wajda's "Man of Marble", visited the Royal Castle, the Old Town reconstruction documentation center and Warsaw Rising museum and finished off with a ballet performance of "Don Quixote". Talk about cultural immersion - whew!

Emma Chen in Poland 04/02/2017

Emma, who majors in history and studied with us last Fall, shared with us this thoughtful essay about her study-abroad experience.

Thanks so much - and we hope to see you back soon!

Emma Chen in Poland Never in my life have I visited so many museums, churches, memorials, and other historical landmarks than in my time abroad. Information saturation definitely hit on certain packed-itinerary days, but the higher quantity surely did not equate lesser quality. Over the course of the past four months...
