💻🌎 Socio-environmental impacts of mining in South America: Findings from a research trip to Ecuador
Join our student Maria and Emilie Dupuits, her host professor and scientific tutor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, for a webinar to present and discuss findings from her research trip to Ecuador, focusing on extractivism, energy justice, sustainable territorial development, mining, and the Rights of Nature.
The research trip was funded by a scholarship awarded by IDUB (Inicjatywa Doskonałości – Uczelnia Badawcza / Excellence Initiative – Research University, student mobility).

👥 About the speakers:
Emilie Dupuits, host professor and scientific tutor of the research project, currently serves as a professor and coordinator of International Relations at the University of San Francisco de Quito. Emilie holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) and is actively involved in various research projects related to water justice, community-based natural resource management, and climate change adaptation policies in the Andes.
Mária Motyková is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the UCBS at the University of Warsaw, where her thesis research focuses on the socio-environmental implications of mining in the context of a just energy transition. Her previous academic background is in international relations, and before shifting her focus to sustainability, she worked in public institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia on EU-funded mental health care innovation projects.
