🏆 Daria Rutkowska, MSc, from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering (Wydział Inżynierii Materiałowej, Politechnika Warszawska) received the Best Student Presentation Award at the international conference "International Conference for Young Scientists on Biorefinery Technologies and Products BTechPro2026".

The award-winning presentation, titled “From Biomass to Fire Safety: Thermo-Mechanically Modified Nettle in Sustainable Flame Retardant Systems for PA12,” focused on the use of modified nettle in sustainable flame-retardant systems for polymer materials.

📝 Warsaw University of Technology, Uniwersytet Warszawski and the IDEAS Research Institute have signed a cooperation agreement in the areas of scientific research, development work, education and training of personnel, and technology transfer related to artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

The agreement is intended:
✅ to promote the exchange of information, knowledge, and experience in the field of artificial intelligence research,
✅ to jointly initiate and carry out research and R&D projects, including applications for funding from national and international sources,
✅ to build and develop communication channels between research teams,
✅ to organize joint scientific conferences, symposia, seminars, and workshops,
✅ to enhance the competencies of academic and technical staff, including through reciprocal internships and mentoring.

📝 Małgorzata Adamczyk, Associate Professor at the Chair of Drug and Cosmetics Biotechnology at the Faculty of Chemistry (Wydział Chemiczny Politechniki Warszawskiej), has been appointed a member of the Human RNome Consortium (HRPC). It is a prestigious international initiative dedicated to comprehensively mapping the human epitranscriptome in order to deepen understanding of cellular mechanisms and support the development of modern therapeutic strategies.

💡 Prof. Adamczyk was invited to join the consortium in recognition of her achievements in advancing RNome research, particularly her contribution to developing Oxford Nanopore sequencing methods for mapping complex tRNA modifications. The work of Prof. Adamczyk’s research group was supported by the WUT Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programme under the BIOTECHMED-3 Advanced project “Development of a Methodology for the Analysis of the Eukaryotic tRNA Epitranscriptome Using Third-Generation Oxford Nanopore Sequencing.”

🥉 Piotr Falkowski, PhD, won 3rd place in this year's FameLab Poland, a science communication competition. He received the award for his presentation titled "Robots and Artificial Intelligence – The Physiotherapists of Tomorrow." Piotr Falkowski is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology and is currently a researcher at Łukasiewicz - PIAP.

💡 In the final round, Piotr Falkowski, PhD, explained the operation of a tool designed to support rehabilitation and everyday functioning for people with neurological disorders. The device is a type of wearable robot that a person with a disability can put on by wrapping it around a limb, such as the arm. Depending on the patient's rehabilitation needs, it can either assist movement or provide resistance during exercises.

📌 The grand final took place on 9 June 2026 at the Rialto Cinema-Theatre in Katowice and featured 12 scientists and researchers. All final presentations can be viewed on the organizer's channel, Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach. The competition presentations were delivered in English, and each participant had exactly three minutes to present.

Design and testing of advanced rocket structures 09/06/2026

🎓 Students working in the Rocket Section of Studenckie Koło Astronautyczne design and test rocket systems 🚀 and propulsion technologies. The team is currently focusing on preparing publications, including for the PAC 2026 conference, as well as on preparations for the FAR–OUT competition in the United States.

⚙️ The students’ work includes the FOK 2 rocket with its control system, the Twardowsky 2 rocket with hybrid propulsion, and the Grot 2 rocket programme, which focuses on multi‑stage rocket systems. They also conduct research in the areas of aerodynamics, sensors and the development of test stands related to rocket technologies.

🔥 More than 15 million PLN from the European Funds for Mazovia programme will go to the Warsaw University of Technology ❗️

✅ The funding will be allocated to the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the fields of aviation ✈️ and printed electronics.The EU resources will make it possible to establish advanced laboratories 🔬 and purchase equipment for research and development in the areas of materials and aviation technologies, as well as to create a pilot modular line to produce functional printing.

👥 Representatives of Austrian Cooperative Research (ACR), as well as the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure and the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, visited the Warsaw University of Technology.

✅ They met the Vice‑Rector for Research, Professor Mariusz Malinowski, and staff members from Politechnika Warszawska - Centrum Innowacji, Cezamat PW - Centrum Zaawansowanych Materiałów i Technologii, and Politechnika Warszawska : : Centrum Współpracy Międzynarodowej. The discussions focused on technology transfer, research potential and scientific collaboration.
