How did you survive yesterday's Armageddon? / Jak przetrwaliście wczorajszy koniec świata? Mam nadzieję, że obyło się bez uciekania do masek gazowych i bunkrów ;-)
Dla tych co dzielnie przeżyli wczorajszy Armageddon i chcą dalej kontynuować naukę angielskiego podaję parę idiomów ze słowem 'world":/ If you survived the end of the world and still want to continue learning English, below you find some idioms with the word 'world':
The world is one's oyster- w przenośni:Świat należy do mnie/Rządzę światem (One rules the world.; One is in charge of everything) np. I feel like the world is my oyster today. I'm in love!
The world is your oyster- you have the ability and freedom to go and do whatever you want i.e. The world is your oyster when you're young and healthy.
It's a small world- 'jaki ten świat mały'-used to say when you discover that someone knows the person you know
to move up in the world- odnieść sukces- to advance oneself and become successful, i.e. The harder I work the more I move up in the world.
to have the world at your feet- mieć świat u swych stóp- to be extremely successful and admired by a great number of people, i.e. Five years after her debut, Kate Moss has the world at her feet.
Wishing everyone to have the world at their feet ;-)

Are you good at time-keeping??
Zdarza Wam się spieszyć na umówione wizyty, spotkania, itp.? Czy udaje się Wam zawsze być 'on time' czy 'in time'? Spójrzmy na oba te zwroty...
ON TIME- at the planned time; neither late nor early (punktualnie)
IN TIME- with enough time to spare; before the last moment (w porę)
The opposite of on time is late.
The opposite of in time is too late.
EXAMPLES:
Peter arrived on time for the meeting.
He would have died if they hadn’t got him to the hospital in time
The 11.45 train left on time.
Will you be home in time for dinner?
Często używa się również zwrotu 'ahead of time" czyli przed czasem, za wcześnie.
Cokolwiek zatem robicie, starajcie sie być 'on time', "in time' or 'ahead of time'! :-)
