What does it take to become an AeroPress judge?
At , I had the chance to test a new workshop format: “Everyone is an AeroPress Judge.” Together with an incredible lineup of national AeroPress champions from Germany, Czech Republic, and & Portugal brewing side by side, we explored how to evaluate coffees we had never tasted before—live, unfiltered, and under real competition dynamics.
The champions worked quadrant by quadrant, dialing in unfamiliar coffees while a group of international participants followed the same sensory journey step by step. From identifying key flavor attributes to confronting personal bias, we moved from individual perception toward group calibration and industry benchmarks.

How quickly perception sharpens when structure meets curiosity—and how powerful shared language becomes in building judging confidence.
This workshop is part of a broader mission: making judging more accessible, more transparent, and more grounded in sensory awareness.
