Your child will leave our school with everything they need for success - whatever they choose to be or do in life.

Almost thirty years ago Warsaw was a very different place. It was an emerging market from a commercial and business point of view, but still a hardship posting for the Diplomatic corps. There were no supermarkets as we know them today, no shopping malls, no fast food outlets or bowling alleys. There were some cinemas, theatres , the Opera and Philharmonia. There were a few restaurants, mainly in the old town. Expatriate social life was vibrant and interesting, and generally exchanged at each other’s homes; particularly the culinary kind! A rumour spread among the small expatriate community that a British school was opening in Mokotów. A few short months later Mrs Iwona Thomas MBE founded The British School in Warsaw in partnership with Nord Anglia. This was to be the first school in the Nord Anglia family of 27 schools worldwide. The numbers grew very quickly as word spread and more and more people wanted their children educated in the British system. The numbers of students continued to double annually. Every year there were improvements to the buildings and facilities. The school grew to occupy five sites in Mokotów at one point. In 2005, Mrs Thomas MBE successfully acquired the present site on ulica Limanowskiego 15. Our school from Year 2 to Year 13 is now based here, whereas Nursery to year 1 continue to enjoy the Dąbrowskiego site. Over the years Warsaw has changed almost beyond recognition; it is a cosmopolitan city with entertainment suitable for everyone. Yet one essential element remains the same: the children who attend this school continue to experience each other’s languages and culture through an education based on the British system in a friendly and caring atmosphere. Our Alumni are scattered around the world and reminisce fondly of their time at The British School through social network pages. Most are either studying or have graduated from the world’s top Universities. We are very proud of our students and our 20 years of tradition and hope that The British School will continue to serve the community for many years to come.
