The Heart in Traditional Chinese Medicine governes the Shen, blood, and blood vessels. In order to maintain the life the heart relies on kidney-yang. Kidney-yang supports the heart-yang in promoting blood circulation and spreading warmth in the body. Main symptoms of heart-yang deficiency in dogs and cats are:
👉 shortness of breath (often worse in winter and during exercise), cold extremities, lack of energy (also emotional: sadness and no will power because the yang is deficient) + always cold (seeks warmer places at home, sleeps in a tight ball or under blankets,). If not treated it can progess to heart yang collapse.
Example of acupuncture points to tonify the heart-yang:
- HT-5 + PC-6 + Ren (CV)-6 + Ren (CV)-17 ☯️

☯ Another way to settle in your dog or cat when they are anxious and fearful is acupuncture point “Anmian” called “peaceful sleep”. It's great to calm the Shen!
Location: midway between SJ-17 (TH-17) and GB-20.

📕Studies demonstrate the efficacy of acupuncture for pain control in dogs with intervertebral disk disease:

👉ST-36 + LI-4, SI-3, KD-3, UB-23, UB-40, GB-30, GB-34 and Liver-3 with unilateral GV-1, Baihui and Ashi points have effectively improved the pain compared to conventional therapy alone.

📘PC 6 (Pericardium 6) is effective for:

- nausea and vomiting;
- anxiety in small animals (promotes smooth flow of liver Qi);
-💎 management of epilepsy. Has anti-epileptic effect! Decreases glutamate levels in hippocampus!
