🔹 HARD vs. HARDLY – Don’t Mix Them Up! 🔹
Many English learners confuse hard and hardly, but they have VERY different meanings!
✅ HARD (adjective/adverb) = difficult OR with a lot of effort
She works hard to achieve her goals. (She puts in a lot of effort.)
This task is really hard! (It’s difficult.)
❌ HARDLY (adverb) = almost not / barely
He hardly works. (He almost doesn’t work at all!)
I could hardly stay awake during the meeting. (I was almost asleep!)
If you say “I work hardly”, you’re actually saying you almost don’t work! 😅
So, do you work hard or hardly work? Let me know in the comments! ⬇️
