📣 We are pleased to announce that Prof. Agata Ulanowska (University of Warsaw) will give a lecture titled “Towards Integrated Methodologies in the Study of Textile Imprints on Clay” during a seminar organized by ArScAn (Archéologies et Sciences de l’Antiquité, CNRS).
📍The in-person event will be held at MSH Mondes (Bâtiment René Ginouvès) on the Campus of the Université Paris Nanterre, on Friday, 19 June 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST.
👩🏫 The presentation will focus on textile imprints preserved on clay, an important but often overlooked source of evidence for prehistoric textile production, especially in contexts where organic materials do not survive. Prof. Ulanowska will present the first results of her two ongoing research projects, “TEXTile digitisAtIon tooLs and mEthodS for cultural heritage (TEXTaiLES)” and “Exploring Textile Imprints on Clay from the 3rd and the 2nd Millennia BCE: Advancing Cutting-Edge Research and Documentation Protocols with Case Studies of Diverse Textile Consumption Contexts (ExplorTIC)”, combining archaeological, experimental, and digital methodologies. The talk will include case studies from Bronze Age Greece and 3rd–2nd millennium BCE Poland, including clay sealings, pottery, and experimental datasets, and will discuss the potential of an integrated approach for advancing the study and documentation of textile-related evidence. 🔍
