„Recent unfavourable global scenarios left young people’s mental health and well-being deeply affected, bringing to surface already existing, pre-crisis, prob- lems, and issues, and poising new, unexpected challenges to them. They high- lighted the role of cultural agents, both locally and internationally, being essential in terms of leading by example, motivating and inspiring young people to get involved in the process. Assuming that culture and art activities can help in overcoming the stigma around mental health and can be tools of social transformation, a holistic and systemic ap- proach capable of creating connections between social, educational, cultural and health worlds is paramount to overcome the idea of ‘art for art’s sake’ and avoid the reduction of its role exclusively to art therapy practices.”
