BEWARE OF THE HIDDEN PROJECTILES IN YOUR CAR

When a car crashes it comes to a very sudden halt, any loose object inside the car will keep moving until it hits whatever is in front of it. The force of this impact is the object's weight, multiplied by the speed that the car was going at when it crashed.
That means that in a 30mph crash, an unrestrained dog becomes the weight of a small hippo, a loose booster seat will weigh the equivalent of two washing machines, and the little cup of juice that your rear facing toddler was holding will hit them in the face with the same force as two bricks...

Please make sure that any loose object is securely tied down. Buy a harness for your dog and strap your older one's empty booster seat in when they're not with you. Give your little one a drink before you leave, and take another one with you for when you get to your destination, but don't let them have it in the car. The same goes for books and toys. They can do without them when they're in the car, they get plenty of entertainment just by looking out of the window.
And if any of your adult passengers decide to sit behind you without their seat belt on, politely tell them that in the event of a crash they'd be the weight of an elephant... :/
