Prestigious scholarship for our researcher 👍
Dr. Sylwia Michorowska from the Department of Bioanalysis and Drug Analysis, Faculty of Pharmacy, MUW, has been awarded the Polish-American Fulbright Commission Senior Award 2022-2023.
The goal of Dr. Michorowska's project is to identify lipid markers of metabolic disease in a population of African-American women for whom typical markers such as triglycerides, LDL, HDL are not good predictive markers of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This is because of ethnic differences.
Thanks to the obtained grant, our researcher will spend 10 months at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA.

✔️ WIMC is the most important event where young scientists from Poland and abroad will be able to exchange experiences and present their research results.
✔️ The keynote speaker of the 17th edition of the congress will be Prof. Mariusz Wąsik, immunologist, pathologist and hematopathologist, who will come to us from Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia at the invitation of the Student Scientific Society of WUM - the organizer of WIMC and the Vice Chancellor for Internationalization, Promotion and Development of WUM - Prof. Paweł Włodarski.
✔️ A distinguished scientist will give two lectures: one on CAR-T immunotherapy, the other on cancer transformation of cells of the lymphoid system.

A team of outstanding specialists from UCK WUM performed an innovative operation to create an arteriovenous fistula 👏👏👏
It is worth noting that this is the first of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. This makes us even more proud‼️ 😊
The fistula was used to perform hemodialysis on the patient. Patient feels well 😊
Pioneering arteriovenous fistula operation performed by the doctors from UCC MUW | Medical University of Warsaw Fistula creation required close cooperation of a team consisting of radiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists and nephrologists from UCC MUW, who performed the innovative procedure on February 15.

Membership in AMSA offers great opportunities for future physicians, such as participation in international congresses 🙌
And so, a few days ago, AMSA MUW board member Piotr Krysiak took part in the AMSA Convention and Exposition 👏
In Washington, young future doctors met with world medical leaders. As our student emphasizes, participation in the event gave him a chance to broaden his horizons, learn from the best specialists from across the Atlantic and strengthen international cooperation 😊

🔥🔥 As many as 25 medals were won by 12 representatives of WUM during the AMP - Polish Academic Swimming Championships, in which 900 swimmers from 83 universities from all over Poland participated!
In this group 🥈 Zosia Sajecka, a 5th year student of physiotherapy, won silver medal in 50 m butterfly, becoming official Polish Vice-Champion at this distance!!! Zosia gave way on the podium only to Kornelia Fiedkiewicz, an Olympic swimmer from Tokyo.
Medals in several individual and group competitions were also won by: Angelika Stokłosiński, Kacper Kowalski, Bartosz Słowikowski, Tadeusz Michniewski, Wojciech Majewski, Aureliusz Sadowski, Julia Petelska, Paweł Kępiński, Mikołaj Łukawski, Kacper Stępniak, Anna Wawszczak.

Prof. Piotr Siciński - pathologist and molecular biologist from Harvard Medical School will visit our university again this year with two lectures that we recommend to our students and employees!
◾️ April 14th, 16.00 - 18.00 (Room 206, CBI/Library Building), the professor will give the lecture “Successful ex*****on of a research project. From idea to publication” during which he will discuss the strategy used to select research projects in his laboratory.
▶️ ️ To participate in the lecture, applications should be submitted to the email [email protected] by April 14th this year.
◾️ April 28th, 16.00 - 18.00 (Room 206, CBI/Library Building) - lecture on "A new molecular mechanism of cell division uncovered by targeted protein degradation in vivo" will be held, during which the expert will talk about his team's research.
