Ancient Roman sword with scabbard, material: iron (steel), 2nd-3rd century AD, found in ancient Singidunum, present-day Belgrade, capital of Serbia.
The sword belongs to a type which differs from a standard gladius sword, and it's made under Sarmatian influence. It is very corroded, and it is still in scabbard, therefore the blade is not exposed. Massive hand guard is rectangular, and at the ending of the handle is attached a massive ring-like pommel.
Dimensions – length 71 cm.
