🚀 New Free SONiC Hands-On Lab: DHCP Relay Configuration
How do DHCP clients receive an IP address when the DHCP Server is located in a different network?
We're excited to introduce a new Hands-On Lab in Module 5: DHCP Relay Configuration.
In this Enterprise SONiC Hands-On Lab, you'll configure DHCP Relay in a simple linear topology consisting of:
🖥️ 1 x DHCP Client
🔀 1 x Layer 3 SONiC Switch (acting as DHCP Relay)
🐧 1 x DHCP Server
Your task is to configure the Layer 3 switch so DHCP requests are forwarded to a remote DHCP Server, allowing clients to obtain their IP addresses dynamically.
During the lab you will:
✅ Configure IP addresses on SONiC interfaces
✅ Configure DHCP Relay on the correct interface
✅ Verify that the Management interface successfully receives an IP address via DHCP
✅ Practice using the SONiC CLI in a real networking scenario
Whether you're preparing for production deployments or expanding your Enterprise SONiC skills, this lab provides practical experience with one of the most common Layer 3 services in modern networks.
