Time-optimal supported by PD control
In principle, the time-optimal is a “bang-bang” control. The PD controller operates to maintain the sphere at constant levels. This controller is pre-tuned to preserve the damping and elasticity coefficients from level to level. If an abrupt change in the desired control level happens then the PD controller is replaced by the time-optimal open loop strategy (stored in the computer memory). It lasts until the time-optimal horizon is reached. The three-dimensional trajectory achieves the target at the new steady state of the sphere position, its velocity, and the electromagnet current. The PD controller is restored with the new settings and maintains the sphere at its new level position. Find out more at https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1474667015338507.

RT-DAC/OMNI real-time software success story
The RT-DAC/OMNI real-time teaks generation package was successfully applied to control the power electronics Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). The DVR unit requires meeting hard real-time constraints, or else it may lead to the destruction of the equipment. The development path was presented at the International Symposium ELMAR 2017 and is described in the paper:
Firlit, A., Kolek, K., & Piatek, K. (2017). Rapid controller development for a dynamic voltage restorer. 2017 International Symposium ELMAR. doi:10.23919/elmar.2017.8124476
The paper is available in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Sub-microsecond jitter of the RT-DAC/OMNI real-time software
The real-time applications generated automatically from Simulink diagrams and executed by the RT-DAC/OMNI boards are characterized by the sub microsecond scheduling jitter. The scheduling jitter in real-time systems is the irregularity of the beginning of the ex*****on of the periodic tasks. The picture presents the histogram of the periods between the consecutive entries to the periodic task. The frequency of the periodic task was 16 kHz and the jitter remains below 300 nanoseconds. The 300-nanosecond period determines the punctuality of the signal processing and generation of the control outputs.
It should be highlighted that the real-time application was automatically generated from the Simulink diagram.
