The Petén Itzá Project - Underwater Archaeological Expedition to Guatemala archeological team, during their last expedition in 2021, has made some historical findings of Maya artifacts, which they can finally make known to the general public. Their research project in the surroundings of Hospital Island on lake Peten Itza in northern Guatemala is funded by the National Science Centre of Poland. XDEEP Exploration Support Program has provided gear to equip the dive team. The NX GHOST ultralight travel backplate and wing setup was chosen as the most optimal configuration thanks to its high durability in a very compact size and a low total weight of the system, making it easier to transport to the location. Diving was conducted on relatively shallow depths of up to 20m using a single tank configuration.
