One of the highlights of the day was our visit to Zakopane’s City Hall, where we had the incredible opportunity to meet with the local leadership. Engaging in meaningful discussions, we explored topics about youth participation, social responsibility, and the challenges of modern democracy. Next, we stepped into a role-playing activity, where we built our own imaginary democratic community. As citizens, we had the freedom to make decisions, debate laws, and shape the society we envisioned. In the afternoon, we traveled back in time with a visit to Zakopane’s “Palace” Museum, immersing ourselves in the history of democracy and resilience. Walking through the exhibits, we reflected on the struggles and sacrifices that have shaped the freedoms we enjoy today.

With the sun shining, we also took some time to recharge with energetic outdoor games, enjoying the fresh air and strengthening our team spirit. Laughter, movement, and connection made this a perfect balance between creativity and relaxation.

In the evening, we immersed ourselves in another Cultural Night, this time dedicated to Hungary! From traditions and music to delicious food, we had the chance to explore the rich heritage of our Hungarian friends and celebrate the diversity that unites us.

Today, democracy took on a new and exciting form as we explored Zakopane through an interactive city game! Guided by special instructions, participants completed various tasks that helped them connect the principles of democracy with real-life experiences. From teamwork and problem-solving to active participation, the activity was a fun and engaging way to promote democratic values in action.

After the game, we enjoyed some well-deserved free time, taking in the breathtaking views of the Tatra Mountains. The stunning landscape reminded us how diverse and beautiful Europe is, just like the different perspectives we bring to this project.

Back at our project venue, it was time for an important democratic exercise—the mayoral elections for our fictional town, Pororoni! Each participant had the chance to express their right to vote, experiencing firsthand the electoral process and the responsibilities of an active citizen. Through debates, campaign speeches, and the final vote, we learned about leadership, representation, and the power of collective decision-making.

In the evening, we celebrated the Cultural Night of Slovakia! Participants immersed themselves in Slovak traditions, music, and cuisine, getting a taste of the country’s rich heritage. It was a perfect way to end the day—learning not only about democracy but also about the cultures that make Europe so diverse and unique.

The Journey Begins: “Faces of Democracy”

Today marked the beginning of an inspiring journey for young people from Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia, who have come together for the Erasmus+ project “Faces of Democracy.” This initiative aims to explore the different perspectives of democracy, civic engagement, and active citizenship, fostering a deeper understanding of democratic values in Europe.

The first day was all about breaking the ice and building a strong foundation for cooperation. Through engaging team-building games and interactive activities, participants got to know each other and created a friendly and supportive atmosphere. These first connections will be essential for the meaningful discussions and learning experiences ahead.

In the evening, we had our first Cultural Night, featuring Poland! Participants had the opportunity to discover Polish traditions, taste traditional food, and learn more about the country’s rich cultural heritage. It was a wonderful way to celebrate diversity and appreciate the unique elements that each nation brings to the project.
