We are sharing a CfP of a Polish journal co-edited by a member of our centre:
📢 Call for Papers – Praktyka Teoretyczna
Special Issue: Dispossession by Law
We invite submissions for a special issue exploring how law operates as a tool of material and subjective dispossession under contemporary capitalism.
🔹 Material dispossession includes legal mechanisms that strip communities of land, resources, and commons, enabling modern forms of enclosure, privatisation, and extraction.
🔹 Subjective dispossession examines how law reshapes agency by restricting rights, limiting democratic participation, and criminalising resistance.
The issue focuses in particular on accumulation and dispossession during post-communist transformation, while also welcoming broader theoretical, historical, and empirical analyses.
💡 Suggested topics include:
• Colonial uses of terra nullius
• Case studies of dispossession by law
• Intellectual property & patent regimes
• Western legal theory and the legitimation of dispossession
• Law’s role in capitalist accumulation
• Labour law changes & erosion of workers’ rights
📄 The full CfP is available on the journal’s website (first link in comments).
🔎 Articles may be submitted in *English* or Polish.

📬 Abstract deadline: 28 February 2026
✍️ Full article deadline: 30 June 2026

As the Nomos conference draws to a close, it's impossible not to feel a mix of exhaustion and inspiration. We've spent these days in vital conversation, engaging the real, dissecting power.
This wasn’t just an academic gathering. It was a collective rehearsal for the future: one where we centre people over profit, and solidarity over spectacle. If the institutions won't save us, then we’ll keep building alternatives in the cracks, together.
Grateful for the comrades, organizers and thinkers, who made this space possible.
