Have you ever thought about your role as a teacher? Teaching is an obligation and a privilage. It's up to you whether your students will get interested in the subject or maybe hate it for the rest of their lives. I don't want my students to feel ashamed of themselves if they fail a test... I make sure they try again. Learning is a process, it's like running an obstacle course. And I'm their guide.

Here's an idea on a speaking activity for a group of students. Yesterday, I came across a Pink Floyd CD. Listening to a masterpiece 'Shine on you crazy diamond', I knew I had to look up the lyrics on the net. The song was so deep, emotional and moving, it was obvious for me that there was a real story behind it. I was right. (I recommend listening, but makie sure it's played very loud, preferably in the evening - your neighbours will thank me ;) )
So...
1. Find a song with a profound message, print out the lyrics.
2. Play the song to the students, write down the questions:
a) What is the song about? What's the message?
b) Why do you think it was written?
c) How does the song make you feel?
d) What's the story behind it?
3. As a feedback, you might tell what you thought about the song when you first heard it. Present the real story behind the song, and reward the students who were the closest to the truth ;) Enjoy ;)
