Jana Koszczyca Witkiewicza w Kazimierzu Dolnym zaczyna się w 1918 roku – wówczas to w Nałęczowie znakomity architekt Jan Koszczyc Witkiewicz założył Szkołę Rzemiosł Budowlanych. Rok później została ona przeniesiona do Kazimierza. History of our school begins in 1918 when architect Jan Koszczyc Witkiewicz implies a school in Nałęczów. A year later it is transferred to the post-war Kazimierz. Until 1922 it was a private school subsidized by the Ministry of Education and Regional Council in Puławy. Under the guidance of director who at the same time was a founder, followed the rapid development of the school. During the practical courses new buildings such as classrooms, workshops and apartments for staff were built. They all were designed by the Jan Koszczyc Witkiewicz. School subjects were for example, Polish, history, geography, civic education, mathematics, physics and professional subjects depended on students speciality, such as technology, professional drafting, geometry, construction and calculation. The school employed educated teachers. Military actions which started in 1939 did not stop the school activities. As early as in October of this year, classes were renewed in „Elektromechanische Werkschule”. In September 1945 classes began again in the ruined walls of the school. From the workshop equipment war has left almost nothing, there was no support for theoretical subjects. Materials for production of tools during practical courses were taken form the wrecked tanks, cars and guns. In 1945 department of education in Lublin established Public Vacational Secondary School. In 1950 both schools namely Building Crafts School and Public Vacational Secondary School are joined in one Basic Vocational School and its name remained until 1980. Graduates are employed in schools in the Lublin region and and factories throughout the country. In the 1950's Basic Vocational School in Kazimierz has gained a reputation and has held a leading position in terms of level of education, both practical and theoretical. Its graduates were respected professionals and easily found work in factories in Poniatowa, Radom, Warsaw and Gdynia. In the 1960's Zakłady Azotowe in Puławy are formed and they employed most of gratuates from our school. In 1954 and 1955 the school took the second place, and in 1956 the first place in the country competition for the best Basic Vocational School. At the same time the school developed activities such as dance, theatre and recitation. Our students under the supervision of a physical education teacher Antoni Czopiński were successful in sports especially in volleyball. Zbigniew Jasiukiewicz who was in our school team later on was a member of Polish national team and was also one of volleyball Olympians. A lot of our students played also in first league volleyball teams. In 1980 in connection with the transfer of agricultural school from High School, the Group of Professional Schools was established and it consisted of Basic Vocationall School, Basic Agricultural School, Agricultural High School and Evening Technical Secondary School. The last decade was followed by further transformation of the school. Agricultural schools were closed down and in their place the 3 and 5-year Mechanical technical secondary school were set up on the basis of the vocational secondary school. Inaddition, a basic school education in the electromechanical and carpentry jobs were introduced. In 1998 we had 80th anniversary of our school connected with the giving the name of its founder and the transfer of the school banner. The ceremony was honored by the members of the family of Jan Witkiewicz, including daughter Henryka Szandomirska, grandchildren Wojciech and andrzej, and great-granddaughter Agatha. In 2002 the school changed its name, and in 2008 it celebrated its 90th anniversary, combined with the giving of a new school banner.
