W czwartek na pięknym wydziale Radia i Telewizji Uniwersytetu Śląskiego odbyło się organizowane przez nas seminarium "Law and Public Policy - Today and Tomorrow". Wydarzenie miało wymiar interdyscyplinarny, co pozwoliło na niezwykle interesujące dyskusje z udziałem prelegentów i naszych gości. Przedstawiamy krótką fotorelację z wydarzenia i zapraszamy do śledzenia strony, aby mogli Państwo być na bieżąco z kolejnymi naszymi inicjatywami!
Raz jeszcze dziękujemy naszym prelegentom: profesor Hadar Dancig-Rosenberg, profesorowi Nikolausowi Forgo, profesor Alexandrze Harrington oraz profesor Marie-Claire Cordonier Segger.

On Thursday our seminar "Law and Public Policy - Today and Tomorrow" took place in the beautiful building of the Faculty of Radio and Television of University of Silesia. The event was of an interdisciplinary nature, which allowed for fascinationg discussions with the participation of our keynote speakers and our guests. We wish to present you some photos from the event and to invite you to follow our page in order to be kept informed about our oncoming initiatives!

"LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY - TODAY AND TOMORROW"



We wish to invite you to participate in the international scientific seminar “LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY – TODAY AND TOMORROW”. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on 19th December 2019 in the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at University of Silesia in Katowice (room 2.08b).

The following speakers have confirmed their presence: Hadar Dancig-Rosenberg (Bar-Ilan University/UC Berkley), Nikolaus Forgó (University of Vienna), Alexandra Harrington (University of Albany) and Marie-Claire Cordoner Segger (University of Cambridge/University of Waterloo).

We invite you to participate in the open seminar “Animal Law: ETHICS – LAW – CONSTITUTIONS”. The event will take place on 2nd May 2019 at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

Our keynote speaker: Professor David Favre from Michigan State University, College of Law - he has written several articles and books dealing with animal issues including such topics as animal cruelty, wildlife law, the use of animals for scientific research, and international control of animal trade. He is a national officer of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and of the ABA Committee on Animal Law. He served as interim dean of the Law College. He teaches Property, International Environmental Law, Wildlife Law, and Animal Law.

We invite you to participate in the open seminar “Animal Law: ETHICS – LAW – CONSTITUTIONS”. The event will take place on 2nd May 2019 at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

Our keynote speaker: Professor Andrzej Elżanowski - zoologist and bioethicist associated with the Faculty of "Artes Liberales" UW. Author of over a hundred scientific papers, including many widely cited. He is the Chairman of the Animal Welfare Section, an association of the Polish Ethical Society. For many years he has been working to improve the fate of animals. As a member of the National Ethical Committee on Animal Experiments in the first term (1999-2003), he introduced the scale of invasive experiences in Poland and contributed to the amendment of the Act on animal protection.

We invite you to participate in the open seminar “Animal Law: ETHICS – LAW – CONSTITUTIONS”. The event will take place on 2nd May 2019 at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

Our keynote speaker: Dr Diana Fleischman - evolutionary psychologist at the University of Portsmouth and member of the Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology group. Her dissertation focused on hormonal influences on the psychology of disease avoidance and disgust. After PhD she conducted research on behaviour change and hand washing at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and worked at the Center for Women's Mood Disorders at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

We invite you to participate in the open seminar “Animal Law: ETHICS – LAW – CONSTITUTIONS”. The event will take place on 2nd May 2019 at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

Our keynote speaker: Pamela Frasch - Associate Dean of the Animal Law Program at Lewis&Clark School of Law in Portland and Executive Director of the Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS). CALS is an academic animal law program with a focus on research, scholarship, and experiential education. Previously, Ms. Frasch served as general counsel for the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), a national non-profit animal protection law organization that seeks to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. In 1996, Ms. Frasch created the ALDF Criminal Justice Program which has since assisted law enforcement and animal advocates in investigating and prosecuting thousands of animal abuse and neglect cases nationwide.

We invite you to participate in the open seminar “Animal Law: ETHICS – LAW – CONSTITUTIONS”. The event will take place on 2nd May 2019 at the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland).

Our keynote speakers:

Dr Birgitta Wahlberg + is working as university teacher and researcher in public law at the Åbo Akademi University, Department of Law in Finland. She is founder of the Global Journal of Animal Law (GJAL) and also of the Finnish Animal Rights Lawyers Society. She has published several articles on a variety of animal law topics and is a skilled speaker both nationally and internationally. Her main research interest is animal law as a science of law and the legal status of animals in different legal systems. Especially its impact on animals in practice. Dr. Wahlberg is the originator to the proposal of the Declaration of Animal Rights and Freedoms.

Professor Steven M. Wise - He has practiced animal protection law for 36 years and animal rights law for three years. He was president of the Animal Legal Defense Fund from 1985 to 1995. He has written four books, as well as numerous law review articles on aspects of animal rights jurisprudence. He has been president of the Nonhuman Rights Project, a civil rights organization working to attain legal rights for nonhuman animals since 1995.
