Erasmus Intensive Programme “Modern Logistics: Enhancing Entrepreneurial Skills and Motivation” that will be held at the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland, from 16 to 27 June 2014. University of Economics in Katowice is the biggest and oldest business school in the region, one of the top universities in Poland. Each year over 13,000 Polish and international students follow our degree pro

grammes at the Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and post-graduate levels at our four faculties: Economics, Finance and Insurance, Informatics and Communication, and Management. The city is worth visiting as it is the capital of Upper Silesia and one of the biggest agglomerations in Europe. Over the last years Katowice has become a vast area of investments (infrastructure, highways, banks, research facilities, shopping centres, modern office buildings etc.) attracting businessmen from all over the world. Among the biggest investors are General Motors Opel, Japanese Isuzu Motors, Spanish Roca, Mecalux etc. Have a pleasant journey to Katowice and we are looking forward to seeing you here!

Initially it was coal miners' settlement of Giesche mine built on the land of Gieschewald manor (Giszowiec) between 1908–1918 on the mining – metallurgical concern initiative Georg von Giesches Erben. The remnants of the original workers' housing estate familoks (specialized multi-family residences) comprise one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii), as designated January 28, 2011 and tracked by the National Heritage Board of Poland.
