Rosso Istanbul to osobista opowieść Ferzana Özpeteka, reżysera o dwóch tożsamościach, tureckiej i włoskiej, opowieść,
w której autobiograficzne wątki splatają się z fikcyjnymi. To historia powrotu reżysera do rodzinnego miasta i historia kobiety przypadkowo spotkanej w samolocie, która doświadczy w Stambule zupełnie nowych uczuć.
Smutek miesza się tu z radością, teraźniejszość ze wspomnieniami, stary Stambuł z nowym, osobista burza w życiu bohaterów
z antyrządowymi zamieszkami w 2013 r. I miasto, i bohaterów zastajemy w momencie przełomu. Özpetek zabiera nas
w nostalgiczną podróż do Stambułu, miasta, w którym się urodził i wychował. Miasto wychodzi mu naprzeciw przywołując wspomnienia z dzieciństwa: babkę, „osmańską księżniczkę”, ciotki, stare panny, niezależne, spragnione życia, piękną, pielęgnującą sekret matkę, ojca, który pojawia się po wielu latach nieobecności, smak pierwszej zakazanej miłości.
Wspomnienia, kolory, pasje. I można też uznać, że to właśnie Stambuł, miasto sztuki i awangardy, jest prawdziwym bohaterem tej opowieści.
Rosso Istanbul doczekała się we Włoszech potrójnego wydruku w ciągu kilku tygodni. Obecnie Ferzan Özpetek kończy pracę nad filmem będącym adaptacją książki.

Aziz Sancar, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, just recieved his 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry from the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, 10 December 2015.

Sancar shares the Chemistry Prize with Tomas Lindahl and Paul Modrich for having mapped, at a molecular level, how cells repair damaged DNA and safeguard the genetic information. Their work has provided fundamental knowledge of how a living cell functions and is, for instance, used for the development of new cancer treatments.

❥⊱The most ancient dog breeds; Turkmen Alabai, Alabay Dogs
The Alabai (also known as the Central Asian sheep-dog, Asian Shepherd dog, the Wolfhound) is one of the most ancient dog breeds. Since ancient times, the Alabai was an irreplaceable assistant, a friend and the companion to Shepherds in Central Asia. Today, even with rapid development of technology, the Alabai has not lost its importance in the life of farmers and perpetually accompanies shepherds out to pasture. Loyal, tender, incorruptible, surprisingly strong and wise, the Alabai is becoming the most demanded breed in the world. Such sudden popularity gives rise to many disputes, hypotheses and myths about the breed’s true origin. According to some experts the age of the breed ranges from three thousand to over six thousand years ago. Modern countries of Central Asia such as Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are the true origins of the Alabai. The breed formation, however, has occurred on a more expansive territory that ranges from the Caspian Sea to Tibet. Primarily, the breed’s development was influenced by the regions climate, environment and the natural development of every day dog life. Human intervention was not a significant factor in the breed’s formation. Alabay, Türkmen boylarının Orta Asya’da yaşadığı dönemlerden ağrı günümüze kadar besleyip ırkına sahip çıktıkları genelde sürü köpeği ve bekçi olarak kullandıkları ırkdır.

Alabay ismi, Orta Asya’dan göç eden biz Türk’lerin bu ırkı ne kadar benimseyip sahip çıktığının en büyük delilidir. İsmi renginin alalığından gelir. Her ne kadar uluslar arası kabul görmüş ismi CAO (Central Asian Ovcharka) yani Orta Asya Çoban Köpeği olsada bu ırkın gerçek sahipleri olan bizler tarafından bu ırk Alabay olarak tanınmaktadır.

Alabay, Hazar Denizinden Çin’e Güney Ural’dan Afganistan’a kadar uzanan muazzam büyüklükteki bu arazide yetiştirilmiş, fizik olarakda her türlü iklim ve doğa şartlarına uyum sağlayarak zamanla çok büyük ilerlemeler kaydetmiştir.
Bu türün damarlarında, eski Tibet köpeklerinin, çeşitli göçmen kabilelerin çoban köpeklerinin ve Mezopotamya’da dövüşen köpeklerin kanı akmaktadır, Moğol Ovcharka ve Tibetli Mastiff’in yakın akrabasıdırlar.

Alabay ırkı, tarih boyunca, hayvan sürülerine, kervanlara ve sahiplerinin evlerine bekçilik ederek, zor bir doğal iklim sürecinden geçti. Zor koşullar ve yabani hayvanlarla sürekli mücadele sonucu, bu köpekler, güçlü, cesur ve enerjisini idareli kullanan bir türe dönüştüler. Orta Asya kökenli çoban köpekleri, sürüleri yabani hayvanlara karşı korumalarının dışında dünyanın en güvenilir bekçisi olarak bilinirler ve bu görevlerini canları pahasınada olsa yerine getirmekle nam salmışlardır.
