Akademia Solidarności ( Solidarity Academy )

Akademia Solidarności ( Solidarity Academy ) Solidarity Academy is an international project aimed at inspiring and supporting the development of the young leaders across Europe.

Solidarity Academy is an international project aimed at inspiring and supporting the development of the young intellectual elites across Europe. The project’s title refers to the Polish social movement Solidarność (Solidarity) and the peaceful socio-political transformations that took place in Poland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. In such movements we can find inspiration for s

olving the problems of the modern world. Workshops and tasks that the participants deal with are both theoretical and practical. The participants have the opportunity to work in a big, international team, in smaller expert groups and individually under the supervision of a trainer. The workshops culminate in a public debate and a series of articles prepared by participants. The working language of the Academy is English. One of the main goals of the project is to create the Solidarity Academy Alumni Programme, which helps participants maintain contact and engage in joint projects in the future. This is why assistants and facilitators for each edition are recruited among Academy graduates. What is more, Solidarity Academy graduates publish regular articles, reviews, essays, political analyses and opinion pieces in bimonthly journal New Eastern Europe and on the Eastbook.eu portal. Graduates also become ambassadors for the project in their respective countries. They establish local initiatives reflective of the Solidarity Academy spirit, popularise it in their own countries and help organisers contact their countries’ representatives.

Akademia Solidarności to międzynarodowy projekt, którego celem jest inspirowanie i wspieranie w rozwoju młodych elit intelektualnych Europy. Tytuł projektu nawiązuje do ruchu społecznego Solidarność i pokojowych przemian społeczno-politycznych, które miały miejsce w Polsce i innych krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. W nich bowiem możemy odnaleźć inspiracje do rozwiązywania problemów współczesnego świata. Podejmują lokalne inicjatywy w duchu Akademii Solidarności, popularyzują ją w swoich środowiskach i pomagają organizatorom w kontaktach z przedstawicielami swoich państw.

One more reminiscence from our closing ceremony: a fantastic concert of Tijana Vladić-Sekereš! 👩‍🎤🎵

We had a great evening with some covers of Frank Sinatra's or En Vogue’s hits. We asked Tijana to sing something from the local repertoire as well, so the concert ended with songs of Ida Prester, popular Croatian singer. 🎶🎸

The week-long workshops of this year's Solidarity Academy have come to an end. Each edition of this project is unique and unforgettable, but this one was definitely distinguished by the fact that it was held mostly online.

During the closing ceremony, we agreed that although we didn’t meet in Gdańsk and that we met via Zoom, we could all feel the special spirit of the project. Yes, there is no doubt that this year's Academy had a very special vibe! 😊

Thank you to the all Participants and Partners for this inspiring time. And we hope that, as always, the last day of the Solidarity Academy is just the beginning of a project that we create together.

The new edition of the Solidarity Academy has already started! Due to pandemic restrictions we are experimenting with the online version hoping to find the true spirit of this project. Today we had the opportunity to get to know each other better and discuss the prejudices affecting the public sphere in our countries. We’re looking forward to upcoming workshops, lectures and discussions.

After numerous pandemic adventures, we are starting the next edition of Solidarity Academy! This time the project will be mostly online, but we hope to find the same inspiration and fun as always. In fact, what makes this project so special are the people who take part in it. So stay tuned! There is only one week left before the start!
