UMK w 2009 roku rozpoczęło swoją działalność kardiochirurgiczne koło naukowe przy Katedrze i Klinice Kardiochirurgii w Szpitalu Uniwersyteckim nr 1 im. Opiekunem studenckiego koła naukowego jest dr n. Wojciech Pawliszak (Zastępca Kierownika Kliniki).

Świetnie operują, ale to wciąż za mało. "Dla niektórych szefów kobieta po prostu się nie nadaje" Mają być kruche, delikatne i nie radzić sobie ze stresem. Jednak wbrew tym stereotypom coraz więcej kobiet wybiera specjalizację z chirurgii i świetnie sobie radzi.
