University of Wah (UW), Pakistan, and INTI International University, Malaysia, formalized a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 June 2026, marking a significant step toward advancing internationalization, academic excellence, and collaborative research between the two institutions.
Driven by their respective Departments of Education, the agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for academic cooperation. The partnership encompasses student and faculty exchange opportunities, curriculum review initiatives, the organization of short academic courses, and postdoctoral placement arrangements. A key highlight of the MoU is the joint publication plan aimed at producing six Scopus-indexed research articles. In addition, INTI International University will explore scholarship opportunities for University of Wah students enrolled in BS, MS, and PhD programs.
The MoU signing ceremony was held virtually and attended by senior leadership and representatives from both universities. Addressing the participants, INTI International University's Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chan Kait Loon, shared that since its establishment in 1986, INTI has placed strong emphasis on international collaboration, developing partnerships with institutions across countries, including India, Indonesia, China, and Pakistan. He further shared that INTI currently holds a global QS World University Ranking of 509, reflecting its growing international standing.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and expressed pride in the emerging partnership between the two institutions. He observed that despite being a relatively young university, the University of Wah has demonstrated remarkable progress, achieving a commendable initial performance in its first-ever application to the QS Rankings. He further emphasized that, in alignment with the Higher Education Commission's evolving policies, the University of Wah is actively pursuing dual-degree arrangements and joint research programs. He also noted that the university offers comprehensive hostel facilities for both national and international students, thereby enhancing its readiness for global academic engagement.
The high-level signing ceremony featured distinguished representatives from both sides. The University of Wah delegation, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, included Registrar Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd.); Faculty Deans; the Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC); the Director of Quality Assurance and Enhancement; the Chairperson of the Department of Education; and Dr. Hakim Ullah, who served as the focal person from the University of Wah.
Representing INTI International University were Dr. Chan Kait Loon, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Douglas Sie Nguong Law, Director of the International Relations and Collaboration Center (IRCC); Dr. Niaz Ali, focal coordinator; Ms. Natasha, Regional Head of IRCC; and Danial Wong.
The agreement shows the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering international academic partnerships, promoting research excellence, expanding mobility opportunities, and creating pathways for students and faculty to engage in meaningful global collaboration. Through this partnership, the University of Wah and INTI International University aspire to contribute to the development of a more connected and innovative higher education landscape.

The Directorate of Media and Publications, University of Wah, hosted a podcast session titled “The Future of AI” on 04 June 2026 as part of its ongoing podcast series. The session was hosted by Mr. Umar Hayat Khan and featured renowned physicist and author Prof. Pervez Hoodbhoy.
During the discussion, Prof. Hoodbhoy shared insights into the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education, research, and future employment. He highlighted how AI is reshaping teaching and learning through personalized education, intelligent tutoring systems, and enhanced academic support, making learning more adaptive and efficient.
The conversation also focused on AI's growing role in research, where machine learning, advanced algorithms, and data analytics are accelerating scientific discoveries and improving research productivity. Addressing the evolving job market, Prof. Hoodbhoy discussed emerging opportunities in AI-related fields and emphasized the importance of developing digital, analytical, and problem-solving skills to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.

𝐇𝐄𝐂 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞-𝐃 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 (𝐌𝐞𝐧) 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔
University of Wah hosted the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Zone-D Basketball (Men) Championship 2026 from 03 to 04 June at the POF Sports Complex, Wah Cantt. The championship featured teams from six universities, including NUST, FAST, Riphah International University, Quaid-i-Azam University, Bahria University, and the University of Wah.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr Jameel-Un Nabi, and attended by the Registrar, Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd.), faculty members, and students, who welcomed and encouraged the participating teams.
The tournament showcased a high standard of competition, with players demonstrating exceptional athletic ability, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the event. Organized under the supervision of the Directorate of Student Affairs, the championship was conducted smoothly in accordance with HEC regulations and standards.
The successful hosting of the event reinforced the UW’s commitment to promoting sports and extracurricular activities alongside academic excellence. The championship concluded with NUST emerging as the winner, while the event fostered unity, healthy competition, and collaboration among the participating universities.

Department of Chemical Engineering, Wah Engineering College, University of Wah, in collaboration with the AIChE UW Chapter, organized an industry–academia seminar titled “Shaping Engineering & Science Careers through HSE: Safety, Risk & Global Employability” on 02 June 2026.
The seminar featured Mar Bilal Ahmed Shah, Senior HSSE Manager (Middle East), as the keynote speaker. Drawing upon more than 25 years of international professional experience across the oil and gas, infrastructure, construction, and industrial sectors, Mr. Shah shared valuable insights into the evolving demands of the global engineering landscape. During the session, he emphasized the growing importance of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) practices in professional development and organizational success. He highlighted key industry expectations, international career opportunities, and strategies for enhancing employability in an increasingly competitive global market. The discussion also pointed out the importance of safety leadership, risk management, and continuous learning in building successful engineering and science careers.
The seminar witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. An engaging interactive discussion and question-and-answer session provided attendees with an opportunity to gain practical perspectives on aligning their academic preparation with industry requirements and global professional standards.
