A fast-rising university in the country.
The University of Turbat is a multidisciplinary public sector general university, chartered by the government of Balochistan in 2012. It remained a Sub-Campus of the University of Balochistan from 2009 up to 2012 with three teaching departments starting in a rented building. The Sub-Campus of Balochistan University was upgraded into a full-fledged university in 2013 as the University of Turbat and
recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in March 2014. The first phase of civil work on the university’s project was completed in a record period and the civil work on the second phase is in progress. The academic activities were shifted from a rented building to its permanent building in October 2017. Now the university has 4 faculties and 12 departments including one institute namely the Institute of Balochi Language and Culture on the main campus, four departments on its sub-campus at Panjgur, and a Faculty of Law situated in the main city of Turbat. Around 200 highly qualified faculty members and admin staff including 25 PhDs are making their utmost efforts in providing research-led quality education to more than 4000 students who come from across Balochistan in this rapidly rising university. The university comprises all facilities for learning including academic blocks, well-equipped labs, multipurpose hall, cafeteria, student facilitation center, admin block, hostels, residential colony, sports complex, mosque, model school, botanical garden, standby powerhouses, load-shedding-free university feeder, and other components. The University has accomplished many achievements in a short span of time; therefore, it got a distinguished place among the best rising universities in the country. The University organizes seminars, workshops, training sessions, international lecture series, certification courses, business galas, sports festivals, study tours, and exposure visits for students on regular basis. The University organized its 1st graduation ceremony on 8th March 2017 while the 2nd Graduation Ceremony was held on 22nd April 2019. A good number of graduates of the University are serving in different departments of public and private sectors in Balochistan and other parts of the country. Around 50 faculty members and scholars have been sent to different universities in Pakistan and abroad for doing MS and PhD. under the Human Resource Development Program, Aghaz e Haqooq Balochistan and other HEC scholarship schemes. Some of them, after completion of their studies, have re-joined the University, and the rest of them are expected to rejoin the University in due course of time. The University has been conducting the meetings of its statuary bodies in due course of time. The university has established its two sub-campuses in Gwadar and Panjgur in a short span of time. The academic activities in the Gwadar campus were started in 2017 while the academic activities in the Pajngur campus were started in 2020. The Gwadar Campus of the University of Turbat was converted into a full-fledged university like the University of Gwadar in October 2021. Earnest efforts are consistently being made to promote vibrant research culture and provide a favorable environment to both its faculty members and students for exploration and innovation. Research activities got more momentum in university after starting M.Phil./MS programs in the IBLC, Chemistry, and Management Sciences Departments. The University launched its very first annual research journal GIDROSHIA for this specific purpose while IBLC has also initiated its research journal (MEERI) duly recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The ORIC incorporates all research activities from the development of research proposals to the commercialization of research products through strengthening academia-industry linkages. It provides strategic and operational support to its faculty members and students in preparing, submitting, and presenting research proposals. The Directorate of I.T is the backbone of the university which provides Wifi and other I.T services to students and its employees. The availability of I.T facilities enhanced the university’s crisis management functions like managing online classes and distant e-learning during the COVID-19 outbreak. The QEC is committed to assuring and enhancing the quality of higher education at the University of Turbat with respect to good teaching strategies, sound infrastructure, outcome-based education, positive student perception, valid program assessment tools, and a learning environment conducive to research activities. The Financial Aid Office is facilitating talented and less privileged students for grants of scholarships to the students on merit and needs bases. The Financial Aid Office through a sincere commitment to all students is striving to eliminate financial barriers to acquiring higher education by providing them financial assistance through various scholarship schemes. The University, through the Directorate of Public Relations and linkages, has signed a number of MOUs with leading national and international universities and research institutions for the exchange of research skills, knowledge, and expertise. Under the patronage of Governor Balochistan, the Federal and Provincial Government, HEC, and the vibrant leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad. Many ideas and projects are in pipeline as the part of the short and long-term strategic plan of the University. نیشنل اسکل کمپیٹنسی ٹیسٹ 2026، یونیورسٹی آف تربت کی شاندار کارکردگی، صوبے بھر میں دوسری پوزیشن حاصل کر لی
ہائر ایجوکیشن کے اعلی معیار، ڈیجیٹل اسکلز اور فنی و پیشہ ورانہ تعلیم کے میدان میں یونیورسٹی آف تربت نے ایک بار پھر صوبائی سطح پر اپنی برتری ثابت کر دی ہے۔ وزیراعظم پاکستان کی ہدایات کے تحت منعقد ہونے والے نیشنل اسکل کمپیٹنسی ٹیسٹ(این ایس سی ٹی) 2026 میں شاندار کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے یونیورسٹی آف تربت نے بلوچستان کی 11 جامعات کے مابین 90 ویں پرسنٹائل(ٹاپ اسکور) میں دوسرا بلند ترین اسکور حاصل کیا ہے، جبکہ اوسط اسکور کے لحاظ سے بھی صوبے بھر میں دوسری پوزیشن اپنے نام کی ہے۔ یہ کامیابی آئی ٹی اور ڈیجیٹل اسکلز کے شعبے میں تربت یونیورسٹی کے طلبہ کی قابلیت کا واضح ثبوت ہے۔ترجمان تربت یونیورسٹی کے مطابق ان نتائج سے واضح ہوتا ہے کہ یونیورسٹی آف تربت طلبہ کی ڈیجیٹل اسکلز اور عملی مہارتوں میں اضافہ کرنے پر بھرپور توجہ دے رہی ہے، یہی وجہ ہے کہ تربت یونیورسٹی اسکلز اور کمپیٹنسی کے میدان میں بلوچستان کی دیگر جامعات سے آگے نکل رہی ہے۔ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کی جانب سے جاری کردہ نیشنل اسکل کمپیٹنسی ٹیسٹ 2026 کے نتائج میں نمایاں کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کرنے والے طلبہ کو

ملاقات کے دوران چیئرمین ایچ ای سی نے جامعات کو درپیش مالی چیلنجز کے حل میں گورنر بلوچستان اور صوبائی حکومت کے کردار کو بھی سراہا اور اعلی تعلیم کے فروغ کے لیے ان کی مسلسل اقدامات کو قابل تحسین قرار دیا۔ان کے مطابق صوبائی حکومت، گورنر و چانسلر، وائس چانسلرز، فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلبہ سب ایک مشترکہ مقصد کے حصول کے لیے کوشاں ہیں۔ترجمان تربت یونیورسٹی کے مطابق چیئرمین ایچ ای سی نے تربت یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر کو یقین دہانی کرائی کہ ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن اپنی تمام ترقیاتی اسکیموں، تحقیقی پروگراموں، آئی ٹی اقدامات، فیکلٹی ڈویلپمنٹ و تربیتی پروگراموں، فیلوشپس اور بین الاقوامی تعاون کے منصوبوں میں تربت یونیورسٹی سمیت بلوچستان کی جامعات کو خصوصی ترجیح دے گا۔

HEC Chairman Visits Quetta, Meets Governor, Chief Minister, and Vice Chancellors; Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Higher Education in Balochistan
Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, visited Quetta on June 4-5, 2026, where he engaged with key stakeholders to advance higher education, research, quality assurance, and skills development in Balochistan.
During his two-day visit, Dr. Akhtar visited higher education institutions (HEIs) in Quetta and held interactive sessions with faculty members and university leadership. He emphasized the importance of academic excellence, research innovation, faculty development, and institutional capacity building in enhancing the quality of higher education.
Accompanied by the Vice Chancellors of the University of Turbat, University of Balochistan, University of Loralai and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, the HEC Chairman met with the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti. During the meeting, he appreciated the provincial government’s continued support in addressing the financial challenges faced by public sector universities across the province.
Dr. Akhtar reaffirmed HEC’s commitment to equipping the youth of Balochistan with contemporary knowledge, technological expertise, and scientific skills. He stated that the Commission is undertaking comprehensive initiatives to strengthen higher education institutions and create greater opportunities for students throughout the province.
The HEC Chairman also met with the Governor of Balochistan, Shaikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, accompanied by the vice chancellors of the province’s public universities. During the discussion, he expressed his sincere appreciation for the unwavering support extended by the Chancellor’s Office in strengthening higher education institutions in Balochistan.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, was also present during the meetings. According to the University of Turbat spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan briefed the HEC Chairman on the university’s performance, major achievements, ongoing development projects, and future academic initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan highlighted that the University of Turbat is continuously striving to enhance educational standards, strengthen research activities, and expand academic opportunities for students through sustained institutional reforms and quality enhancement measures.
During the meeting, the HEC Chairman assured the Vice Chancellor that he would visit the University of Turbat in the near future. He also announced that HEC plans to organize training and capacity-building workshops for the administrative and academic staff of the University of Turbat, as well as other universities in Balochistan, during the next financial year to further strengthen institutional capacity across the province.
Commending the talent and potential of Balochistan’s youth, Dr. Akhtar observed that, with adequate opportunities, quality education, and sustained support, the province’s students have the ability to excel at both the national and international levels and make significant contributions to the country’s development.

University of Turbat Announces Summer Vacations 2026
The University of Turbat (UoT) shall remain closed for summer vacations from June 05, 2026, to August 15, 2026, however, the teaching faculty are required to resume duty on August 3, 2026.
All faculty members are required to submit examination results to the Controller of Examinations before going on summer vacations.
All Deans, Chairpersons, Incharges of Teaching Departments, Librarians, Heads/Incharges of Administrative Sections, and non-teaching staff shall remain on duty as usual during the summer vacations.

تربت(2جون2026) یونیورسٹی آف تربت کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر گل حسن کی خصوصی ہدایت پر عیدالاضحیٰ کی تعطیلات کے بعد 2جون 2026 کو یونیورسٹی کے ویڈیو کانفرنس روم میں عید ملن تقریب کا اہتمام کیا گیا۔ تقریب میں ڈینز،رجسٹرار،ڈائریکٹرز،تعلیمی وانتظامی شعبہ جات کے سربراہان، فیکلٹی ممبران اور انتظامی عملے نے شرکت کی۔تقریب کے دوران وائس چانسلر نے فیکلٹی اور انتظامی عملے سے فرداً فرداً ملاقات کی، ان سے عید ملے اور عید کی مبارکباد کا تبادلہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر اظہارخیال کرتے ہوئے وائس چانسلر نے عید ملن کی روایت کو برقرار رکھنے کو خوش آئند قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ عیدالاضحیٰ ہمیں ایثار، بھائی چارے، باہمی احترام اور اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا کے لیے قربانی دینے کا درس دیتی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ عظیم تہوار ہمیں ایک دوسرے کے حقوق کا خیال رکھنے اور معاشرے میں محبت، رواداری اور ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دینے کی تلقین کرتا ہے۔وائس چانسلر نے اپنے عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یونیورسٹی آف تربت ہم سب کا ایک مقدس اورعظیم تعلیمی ادارہ ہے، جس کی تعمیر وترقی کے لیے ہمیں مشترکہ کوشش اور قربانی دینے کے لیے تیار رہنا چاہیے۔انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ آج کی اس تقریب کا مقصد صرف عید کی خوشیاں بانٹنا نہیں بلکہ باہمی احترام یکجہتی اور ٹیم ورک کے جذبے کو فروغ دینا بھی ہے۔ اس موقع پر ہمیں یہ عہد بھی کرنا چاہیے کہ ہم انفرادی اور اجتماعی سطح پر یونیورسٹی اور معاشرے کی تعمیر و ترقی میں اپنا مثبت کردار ادا کرتے رہیں گے۔ڈاکٹر گل حسن نے عید کے پرمسرت موقع پر رنجشیں اور اختلافات کو پس پشت ڈالنے اور خلوص دل کے ساتھ ایک دوسرے سے ملنے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئےزور دیا کہ یونیورسٹی اور معاشرے میں اسی جذبہ یگانگت اور باہمی تعاون کو برقرار رکھنا ہم سب کی قومی، سماجی اور اخلاقی ذمہ داری ہے۔تقریب کے اختتام پر وائس چانسلر کی جانب سے فیکلٹی ممبران اور انتظامی عملے کے اعزاز میں پرتکلف چائے پارٹی کا اہتمام بھی کیا گیا۔

UoT Students Participate in Capacity Building and Exposure Program
Students of the University of Turbat (UoT) participated in a seven-day Capacity Building and Exposure Program organized by the Government of Balochistan’s Youth Affairs Department. As part of the program, they visited Islamabad, Lahore, and Sialkot from May 18 to 24, 2026.
The initiative aimed to provide the youth of Balochistan with academic, cultural, and industrial exposure to broaden their perspectives and contribute to their personal and professional development.
During the visit, the students toured several universities, research centers, historical sites, leading manufacturing units, and textile mills. According to the University's spokesperson, the Vice Chancellor of UoT, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, along with the participating students, expressed their sincere gratitude to the Government of Balochistan’s Youth Affairs Department for organizing this valuable program.
They also highlighted the importance of continuing such capacity-building and exposure programs on an annual basis to support the development and empowerment of the youth of Balochistan.
The Vice Chancellor stated that the University of Turbat is implementing a comprehensive plan to further strengthen and empower its Directorate of Student Affairs to organize and promote a wider range of student-centered activities aimed at nurturing and enhancing students’ digital, creative, and leadership skills.

یونیورسٹی آف تربت کے وائس چانسلرپروفیسر ڈاکٹر گل حسن اور پوری یونیورسٹی کمیونٹی نے یوم تکبیر کے موقع پر اپنے پیغام میں کہا ہے کہ 28 مئی وطن عزیز کی تاریخ میں ایک عظیم اور یادگار دن کی حیثیت رکھتا ہے۔ اس دن پوری پاکستانی قوم نے بے مثال قومی یکجہتی کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے میاں محمد نواز شریف کی دلیرانہ قیادت میں حکومت وقت نے تمام تر عالمی دباؤ کو نظر انداز کرتے ہوئے 28 مئی 1998 کو چھے ایٹمی دھماکہ کر کے پاکستان کو ایٹمی قوت بنایا اور بھارت کے جارحانہ عزائم کادوٹوک جواب دیا۔انہوں نے کہا کہ اس بروقت اور دانشمندانہ فیصلے نے پاکستان کی دفاعی صلاحیت کو ناقابل تسخیر بنا دیا اور ملک کے تحفظ کو یقینی بنایا۔ پاکستان کے ایٹمی قوت بننے سے دشمنوں کے تمام ناپاک اور ناکام عزائم خاک میں مل گئے۔اپنے پیغام میں انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ یوم تکبیر ہمیں خودداری، قومی اتحاد، حق وانصاف پر کاربند رہنے اور مسلسل ترقی کا درس دیتا ہے۔ اب وقت آگیا ہے کہ پاکستان کو ایک مکمل اسلامی، فلاحی اور معاشی طور پر خودمختار ریاست بنانے کے لیے اجتماعی کوششوں کو تیز کیا جائے، تاکہ چاروں صوبوں سمیت ملک کے تمام عوام خوشحالی اور ترقی کی راہ پر گامزن ہو سکیں۔

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, is organizing a National Short Video Contest to celebrate 75 Years of Pakistan-China Diplomatic Relations.
