Sindh Agriculture University has started experimental work to reduce the reproductive capacity of dogs to save people from the increasing number of dogs and their bites.
Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Nawaz Tunio, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, in order to curb the growing number of dogs and the increasing incidence of dog bites, experimental and practical work has been started to eliminate production capacity instead of killing of dogs and work has been started on a project to make the area rabies risk free.
Dr. Ahmad Nawaz Tunio, Chairman, Department of Surgery, has started work with his team in Laboratories and Operation Theater, in which Dr. Syed Ghiasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dean of the Faculty and Dr. Abdullah Arijo, Chairman, Department of Veterinary Parasitology are assisting him.
Dr. Ahmad Nawaz Tanio and Dr. Abdullah Arijo said that the special directives given by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri, the experimental and practical work has been started keeping in view the growing generation of dogs and increasing incidents of biting, a small-scale work has been started in this regard.
They said that this project will reduce the reproductive capacity of dogs and there will be no need to kill dogs, he said that as long as the Sindh government runs a large-scale program, the small scale experiment program will be successful to stop the development of dog breeds.
