“My name is Mehwish Gul Saddam, CSS Finalist 2023 (Special).
I walked into that interview room eight months pregnant—feet swollen, heart steady, and eyes full of dreams. From the heart of Balochistan to the final list of one of Pakistan’s toughest exams, this journey has been nothing short of a test in every way.
Marriage, motherhood, daily chores, and countless responsibilities tried to pull me back. But I kept showing up. I studied with my baby kicking inside me, and I pushed forward on the days it felt impossible—because I owed it to myself, to my family, and to the future I dared to imagine.
People often say women have to choose between ambition and family. But I am living proof—we don’t have to choose. We can do both. We can be both. And we can succeed in both.
To all my sisters who think your veil or hijab might hold you back— I’m here to tell you it won’t. Your identity is not your obstacle. It is your strength
This journey wasn't easy. But it was worth it. And if I can do it, so can you.”
These are her personal views and her truth — and we honour that.
But let’s also be clear: we don’t glorify the idea of women doing it all at the cost of their mental or physical well-being. Strength looks different for everyone, and not every woman has the same support system, privilege, or capacity.
To those who are resting, healing, or simply surviving — your journey is just as valid.
There’s no single way to be strong.
