The skeleton is made up of 206 bones in the adult and contributes to the form and shape of the body. The skeleton has several important functions for the body. The bones of the skeleton provide support for the soft tissues. For example, the rib cage supports the thoracic wall. Most muscles of the body are attached to bones which act as levers to allow movement of body parts. The bones of the skeleton also serve as a reservoir for minerals, such as calcium and phosphate. Finally, most of the blood cell formation takes places within the marrow of certain bones.

A disease is an abnormal condition that affects the structure or function of an organism. Diseases are usually characterized by specific signs and symptoms, such as fever, cough, or pain.
Causes
Pathogens: External factors like pathogens can cause disease.
Internal dysfunctions: Internal dysfunctions, such as immune system issues, can cause disease.
Environmental hazards: Environmental hazards, such as iodine deficiency or fluoride toxicity, can cause disease.
Types
Infectious: Diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria or viruses
Hereditary: Diseases caused by genetic factors
Autoimmune: Diseases caused by an overactive immune system
Degenerative: Diseases that cause the gradual decline of an organ or tissue
Drug-induced: Diseases caused by certain medications
Symptoms fever, cough, congestion, and aches and pains.
Synonyms illness, sickness, malady, ailment, and infection.

Disease, any harmful deviation from the normal structural or functional state of an organism, generally associated with certain signs and symptoms and differing in nature from physical injury. A diseased organism commonly exhibits signs or symptoms indicative of its abnormal state. Thus, the normal condition of an organism must be understood in order to recognize the hallmarks of disease. Nevertheless, a sharp demarcation between disease and health is not always apparent.

The study of disease is called pathology. It involves the determination of the cause (etiology) of the disease, the understanding of the mechanisms of its development (pathogenesis), the structural changes associated with the disease process (morphological changes), and the functional consequences of those changes. Correctly identifying the cause of a disease is necessary to identifying the proper course of treatment.
