Congratulations to Dr. Naseer Ullah on Successfully Completing His PhD

The Department of Zoology is pleased to announce that Mr. Naseer Ullah, Lecturer in Zoology, has completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree following the successful public defence of his thesis at the Department of Zoology, University of Malakand. Dr. Naseer Ullah conducted his doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Ikram Ilahi, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Malakand, with co-supervision by Dr. Muhammad Suleman, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Genetics, Forensic and Microbiology, University of Swat.
The thesis was evaluated by distinguished external examiners, Dr. Fazal Adnan, Professor at the Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, and Dr. Farman Ullah, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST), Kohat.

University of Swat hosted the Orientation Session of the project “Empowering Women for Peace and Environmental Justice in Swat,” Implemented by Hashoo Foundation in collaboration with UNDP.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim, Vice Chancellor University of Swat, highlighted the vital role of academia and youth in promoting environmental responsibility, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. He appreciated the collaboration between UNDP, Hashoo Foundation, and the University of Swat in strengthening community engagement and environmental awareness across the region.

The event brought together representatives from government departments, academia, civil society, media, and local communities to discuss environmental justice, climate resilience, women's empowerment, and sustainable peace in Swat.

سوات: یونیورسٹی آف سوات کے نو تعینات وائس چانسلر، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد قاسم نے یونیورسٹی کے مختلف شعبہ جات کا تفصیلی دورہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر انہوں نے تعلیمی سرگرمیوں کا جائزہ لیا۔
دورے کے دوران وائس چانسلر نے طلبہ سے ملاقات کی، ان کے مسائل اور تجاویز کو براہِ راست سنا اور متعدد امور پر موقع پر ہی متعلقہ حکام کو ہدایات جاری کیں۔
پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد قاسم نے تدریسی عمل کے تسلسل، کلاسز کے باقاعدہ انعقاد اور طلبہ کی حاضری کو یقینی بنانے کی ضرورت پر زور دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ معیاری تعلیم کے حصول کے لیے کلاس روم میں باقاعدہ شرکت ناگزیر ہے۔ انہوں نے اساتذہ پر بھی زور دیا کہ وہ مقررہ اوقات کے مطابق اپنی کلاسز باقاعدگی سے لیں اور طلبہ کی علمی رہنمائی میں کوئی کسر نہ چھوڑیں۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ یونیورسٹی میں تعلیمی و تحقیقی ماحول کو مزید بہتر بنانا، طلبہ کو معیاری تعلیم فراہم کرنا اور ادارے کی ترقی کے لیے تمام دستیاب وسائل بروئے کار لائے جائیں گے۔
اس موقع پر طلبہ نے نو تعینات وائس چانسلر کا خیرمقدم کیا اور ان سے مختلف امور پر تبادلۂ خیال کیا۔ طلبہ نے ان کے عملی اقدامات اور مسائل کے حل میں دلچسپی کو سراہتے ہوئے نیک خواہشات کا اظہار کیا۔

University of Swat Celebrates World Environment Day 2026 with a Call for Climate Action
The Department of Environmental Sciences (DES), in collaboration with the Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on June 8, 2026, under the global theme “Climate Action – Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The event aimed to raise awareness about the growing challenges of climate change and to promote nature-based solutions for building a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
The day's activities commenced with an Awareness Walk across the university campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and students, all demonstrating their commitment to environmental protection and climate responsibility.
During the event, participants highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable lifestyles, conserving natural resources, reducing carbon footprints, and strengthening community engagement in climate action. Discussions emphasized the role of ecosystems, forests, wetlands, and biodiversity in mitigating climate change and enhancing environmental resilience.
Students were encouraged to become environmental ambassadors by promoting climate-conscious practices within the university and their communities. The event also served as a platform to reinforce the significance of collective action in addressing the global climate crisis and safeguarding the environment for future generations.
The DES and the GYM Club reaffirmed their commitment to advancing environmental awareness, sustainability initiatives, and climate education within the university and beyond.
