Introduction

The Department of Law and Shari’a, University of Swat, is the 3rd of its kind in the entire country. It is the flagship Department of the University that is striving hard to enlighten the seeking minds not only with the religious knowledge but, also enrich them with the science of modern law. Students, after completing the degree shall have a thorough and correct understanding of Qur

an, Hadith, Fiqh and principals of Islamic Jurisprudence, besides preparing them to compete in the market as law practitioners. Law and Shari’a is a five- year degree programme aiming to attain the highest standards not only in academics but, also in research. Research work of this Department and other contributors will be periodically published in its proposed “Journal of Law and Sharia”
The UoS was in initially made for the mentioned Department and then the other Departments developed.
الشريعة الإسلامية هي ما شرعه الله لعباده المسلمين من أحكام وقواعد ونظم لإقامة الحياة العادلة وتصريف مصالح الناس وأمنهم في العقائد والعبادات والأخلاق والمعاملات ونظم الحياة، في شعبها المختلفة لتنظيم علاقة الناس بربهم وعلاقاتتهم بعضهم ببعض وتحقيق سعادتهم في الدنيا والآخرة. فمن يحقق هذه الكليات أو يقترب منها فهو على شرعة الله بصرف النظر عن هويته ونوع انتمائه فالله يحاسب الناس على الأعمال والنيات، والشريعة الإسلامية ذات دلالة موسوعية تتسع لكل جهد إيجابي يبذل لعمارة الأرض ويستثمر مكنوناتها لصالح حياة الإنسان وكرامته، وتتسع لكل ما يحقق للإنسان صحته وغذاءه وأمنه واستقراره، وتتسع لكل ما يعزز تنمية آمنة وتقدم علمي نافع وارتقاء حضاري راشد.
