The Department of Architecture, SABS University, successfully conducted a comprehensive site visit to Khanote, along with a contextual study of the surrounding locality including Lucky Shah Sadar near Sehwan city.
The visit was organized for students of the 2023 Architecture batch as part of their ongoing design project and field-based learning. Accompanied by faculty members Ar. Irfan Ali and Ar. Uzma Arisar, students conducted detailed site analysis, documentation, and photographic surveys to better understand the physical, cultural, and environmental context of the area.
Such experiential learning opportunities play a vital role in bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world application, enabling students to develop critical observational and analytical skills essential for architectural practice.

The workshop brought together students and faculty from 𝟐𝟒 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 to explore sustainable, affordable, and climate-resilient housing ecosystems.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩:
1. Sessions on Housing Policy & Governance (PHATA), Sustainability and Facade uniformity By-Laws in Punjab, Policy Formulation and Governance for Sustainable Development in Pakistan, Intro to Satellite Data Mapping (GEE), SDG 11 / Gov. Action Plan / Urban Resilience and AQI for Faculty and Professionals.
2. Sessions on Green Experience Center, Climate Risk Profile of Punjab, Nature based Solutions, and Building Climate Resilience and Campus Sustainability Program Presentation + Eco-Campus Tour Water, Waste, Dry Construction, Biodiversity, WWF Eco-Campus for Faculty, Professionals and Students.
3. Workshops on Archlore - Bamboo Construction, Dry construction techniques-ECOBLOCK for Students.
4. Workshops on Structural Modeling and Design Thinking for Faculty, Professionals and Students.
5. Site Visits to Tipu Sultan Markaz at Sheikhupura and Green Experience Center at BNU Lahore.
6. Synthesis Session for Faculty, Professionals and Students.
𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥:
Its main goal was to 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, while addressing Pakistan’s growing urban housing needs.

Students of 2019 Batch along with faculty Member Ar. Irfan Ali, have participated in a 2 day interactive workshop on Documentation, Mapping and preservation of the Tangible Cultural heritage of sindh by Center of documentation and conservation of the Heritage of Sindh Endowment Fund Trust, Jamshoro on 15th and 16th February 2024. Madam Vice chancellor prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto was the guest of honour of the event.
