LiDAR Software | Use for LiDAR Data Processing
LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging which is a Remote Sensing technology used to measure the features of the earth surface, create DEM (Digital Elevation Model). LIDAR use laser beams to hit the target and record back the reflected energy. It is the active sensor which generates numbers of....

The Different Bands within the Microwave Spectrum.
The microwave spectrum is typically divided into the different bands described in the table below. These bands are the equivalent of colors in the optical spectrum in the sense that they divide the spectrum into non-overlapping pieces and assign labels to these individual pieces. The shorter wavelength (higher frequency) bands are shown on top of the table and wavelengths increase from top to bottom.
Spaceborne imaging radar systems predominantly operate at the X- ( ≈3.1cm ), C- (( ≈5.6cm )), and L-band (( ≈25cm )) part of the spectrum, although there are upcoming radar platforms that will operate also at S-band (NISAR) and P-band (BIOMASS).
Remember the information from the previous unit: Shorter wavelength at K-, X-, and C-band may experience atmospheric attenuation during times of heavy rainfall. For more information, please read through Section 2.3 in the SAR Handbook

The Benefit of the Microwave Window.
In the microwave window, incoming energy can pass through the atmosphere with very little attenuation. Even during fog and drizzle, the power of traversing radar signals remain nearly unaffected. Even though heavy rain can affect short wavelength (high frequency) radar data, impacts even of heavy rain decrease quickly as radar wavelengths increase. This explains the various radar applications described in the post.
