Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) Hamza bin `Amr Al-Aslami asked the Prophet, Should I fast while traveling? The Prophet replied, You may fast if you wish, and you may not fast if you wish.

حمزہ بن عمرو اسلمی رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کی میں سفر میں روزہ رکھوں؟ وہ روزے بکثرت رکھا کرتے تھے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اگر جی چاہے تو روزہ رکھ اور جی چاہے افطار کر۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, Take Suhur as there is a blessing in it.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، سحری کھاؤ کہ سحری میں برکت ہوتی ہے۔

Narrated Anas: Zaid bin Thabit said, We took the Suhur with the Prophet . Then he stood for the prayer. I asked, What was the interval between the Suhur and the Adhan? He replied, The interval was sufficient to recite fifty verses of the Qur'an.

نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ہم نے سحری کھائی، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صبح کی نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے۔ میں نے پوچھا کہ سحری اور اذان میں کتنا فاصلہ ہوتا تھا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ پچاس آیتیں ( پڑھنے ) کے موافق فاصلہ ہوتا تھا۔

Sahih Bukhari #1921

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, The month (can be) 29 nights (i.e. days), and do not fast till you see the moon, and if the sky is overcast, then complete Sha'ban as thirty days.

نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا مہینہ کبھی انتیس راتوں کا بھی ہوتا ہے اس لیے ( انتیس پورے ہو جانے پر ) جب تک چاند نہ دیکھ لو روزہ نہ شروع کرو اور اگر بادل ہو جائے تو تیس دن کا شمار پورا کر لو۔

Narrated 'Alqama: While I was walking with `Abdullah he said, We were in the company of the Prophet and he said, 'He who can afford to marry should marry, because it will help him refrain from looking at other women, and save his private parts from committing illegal sexual relation; and he who cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual power.

ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا اگر کوئی صاحب طاقت ہو تو اسے نکاح کر لینا چاہئے کیونکہ نظر کو نیچی رکھنے اور شرمگاہ کو بدفعلی سے محفوظ رکھنے کا یہ ذریعہ ہے اور کسی میں نکاح کرنے کی طاقت نہ ہو تو اسے روزے رکھنے چاہئیں کیونکہ وہ اس کی شہوت کو ختم کر دیتا ہے۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.' Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، اللہ پاک فرماتا ہے کہ انسان کا ہر نیک عمل خود اسی کے لیے ہے مگر روزہ کہ وہ خاص میرے لیے ہے اور میں ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور روزہ گناہوں کی ایک ڈھال ہے، اگر کوئی روزے سے ہو تو اسے فحش گوئی نہ کرنی چاہئے اور نہ شور مچائے، اگر کوئی شخص اس کو گالی دے یا لڑنا چاہئے تو اس کا جواب صرف یہ ہو کہ میں ایک روزہ دار آدمی ہوں، اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں محمد ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) کی جان ہے! روزہ دار کے منہ کی بو اللہ تعالیٰ کے نزدیک مشک کی خوشبو سے بھی زیادہ بہتر ہے، روزہ دار کو دو خوشیاں حاصل ہوں گی ( ایک تو جب ) وہ افطار کرتا ہے تو خوش ہوتا ہے اور ( دوسرے ) جب وہ اپنے رب سے ملاقات کرے گا تو اپنے روزے کا ثواب پا کر خوش ہو گا۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، اگر کوئی شخص جھوٹ بولنا اور دغا بازی کرنا ( روزے رکھ کر بھی ) نہ چھوڑے تو اللہ تعالیٰ کو اس کی کوئی ضرورت نہیں کہ وہ اپنا کھانا پینا چھوڑ دے۔

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet was the most generous amongst the people, and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel visited him, and Gabriel used to meet him on every night of Ramadan till the end of the month. The Prophet used to recite the Holy Qur'an to Gabriel, and when Gabriel met him, he used to be more generous than a fast wind (which causes rain and welfare).

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سخاوت اور خیر کے معاملہ میں سب سے زیادہ سخی تھے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی سخاوت اس وقت اور زیادہ بڑھ جاتی تھی جب جبرائیل علیہ السلام آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے رمضان میں ملتے، جبرائیل علیہ السلام نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے رمضان شریف کی ہر رات میں ملتے یہاں تک کہ رمضان گزر جاتا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جبرائیل علیہ السلام سے قرآن کا دور کرتے تھے، جب جبرائیل علیہ السلام آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ملنے لگتے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چلتی ہوا سے بھی زیادہ بھلائی پہنچانے میں سخی ہو جایا کرتے تھے۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا جب رمضان کا مہینہ آتا ہے تو آسمان کے تمام دروازے کھول دیئے جاتے ہیں، جہنم کے دروازے بند کر دیئے جاتے ہیں اور شیاطین کو زنجیروں سے جکڑ دیا جاتا ہے۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, Whoever gives two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah's Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed, 'O slaves of Allah! Here is prosperity.' So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their prayers, will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fasts, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan; whoever was amongst those who used to give in charity, will be called from the gate of charity. Abu Bakr said, Let my parents be sacrificed for you, O Allah's Apostle! No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates. Will there be any one who will be called from all these gates? The Prophet replied, Yes, and I hope you will be one of them.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا جو اللہ کے راستے میں دو چیزیں خرچ کرے گا اسے فرشتے جنت کے دروازوں سے بلائیں گے کہ اے اللہ کے بندے! یہ دروازہ اچھا ہے پھر جو شخص نمازی ہو گا اسے نماز کے دروازہ سے بلایا جائے گا جو مجاہد ہو گا اسے جہاد کے دروازے سے بلایا جائے جو روزہ دار ہو گا اسے «باب الريان» سے بلایا جائے گا اور جو زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے والا ہو گا اسے زکوٰۃ کے دروازہ سے بلایا جائے گا۔ اس پر ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا میرے ماں باپ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر فدا ہوں یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! جو لوگ ان دروازوں ( میں سے کسی ایک دروازہ ) سے بلائے جائیں گے مجھے ان سے بحث نہیں، آپ یہ فرمائیں کہ کیا کوئی ایسا بھی ہو گا جسے ان سب دروازوں سے بلایا جائے گا؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ہاں اور مجھے امید ہے کہ آپ بھی انہیں میں سے ہوں گے۔

Sahih Bukhari #1897

Narrated Sahl: The Prophet said, There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، جنت کا ایک دروازہ ہے جسے ریان کہتے ہیں قیامت کے دن اس دروازہ سے صرف روزہ دار ہی جنت میں داخل ہوں گے، ان کے سوا اور کوئی اس میں سے نہیں داخل ہو گا، پکارا جائے گا کہ روزہ دار کہاں ہے؟ وہ کھڑے ہو جائیں گے ان کے سوا اس سے اور کوئی نہیں اندر جانے پائے گا اور جب یہ لوگ اندر چلے جائیں گے تو یہ دروازہ بند کر دیا جائے گا پھر اس سے کوئی اندر نہ جا سکے گا۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting. The Prophet added, By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا روزہ دوزخ سے بچنے کے لیے ایک ڈھال ہے اس لیے ( روزہ دار ) نہ فحش باتیں کرے اور نہ جہالت کی باتیں اور اگر کوئی شخص اس سے لڑے یا اسے گالی دے تو اس کا جواب صرف یہ ہونا چاہئے کہ میں روزہ دار ہوں، ( یہ الفاظ ) دو مرتبہ ( کہہ دے ) اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے روزہ دار کے منہ کی بو اللہ کے نزدیک کستوری کی خوشبو سے بھی زیادہ پسندیدہ اور پاکیزہ ہے، ( اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے ) بندہ اپنا کھانا پینا اور اپنی شہوت میرے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے، روزہ میرے لیے ہے اور میں ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور ( دوسری ) نیکیوں کا ثواب بھی اصل نیکی کے دس گنا ہوتا ہے۔
